OH MY GOSH - I am so stunned!! MY blog has over 2000 hits in not even 2 weeks!! Thanks to you all for keeping my little site on your bookmarks and for checking in, I hope I will keep exceeding your expectations!
Now for todays card...I stamped yesterday for my class, but it was not the sketch or any other challenge. So this time I combined the sketch challenge, with the Way To Use It challenge. I like that challenge, because it gets you using things that you have in your craft room, that you often forget about. Todays was watercolor paper. I have to admit, though, I use this often. Watercoloring looks so good when you use the proper paper and the colors blend so nicely. The other option was shimmery white. I had never used that to watercolor before, so I decided to go that route. Here is my card...
I used SU's bashful blue, more mustard, old olive, and simmery white papers. I used the same inks, as well as, creamy caramel, chocolate chip, not quite navy, and pumpkin pie.
First, I stamped the SU flannel BG stamp on the bashful blue in not quite navy stamped off once. I then sponged the edges.
I stamped the little bird from the SU set Natural Beauty with Jet Black Stazon on shimmery white. I find that it is the best ink for watercoloring. I also stamped the flowers from this set, on the shimmery white and cut them out. I watercolored the bird and flowers with the more mustard and bashful blue. I accented the areas that would naturally be shadowed, with the not quite navy and pumpkin pie. I love shadowing with a darker color in the same color tones. I then colored the ground with creamy caramel and accented with chocolate chip. All my watercoloring was done with ink from the pad lid, and an aqua painter.
I then sponged these edges, as well, and then matted with the olive, and mustard. I then did the faux paper piercing with my mat pack ( see this post ) and the black SU stampin' write marker. I attached the layer with the bird on dimensionals, and all the flowers are popped up too.
Try some watercoloring and see your images become so real! Have fun and happy stamping!!

This looks terrific...great interpretation of the SC!
