I have had some emails regarding the stars on pages 170-171 in the Stampin' Up! catalog. I have tried to make them, but I can't show you what cannot make perfect myself, so I found a 6 sided star, and will show you that instead!
Awwww, aren't they purty ?? Just makes you want to decorate for Christmas, doesn't it ?!?. I found this template through SCS and it was made by Cindy. You can tell by the counter top under the stars that I created this tutorial in my kitchen. Yep, it is that easy, only taking about 5 mins to make one star.
SERIOUSLY!!
In fact, it took more time to take the pictures and add my watermark, then it did to make the star. So what do you need to make this a reality? Here goes!
You can make these pretty much anywhere, so if you have a few to make, take these few things along and get busy.
- paper cutter w/ scoring tool
- scissors
- bonefolder
- sticky strip
- 6 X 6 piece of DP (double sided best)
- not pictured but needed - stapler
You will need to score your paper at 1 inch increments, so at 1, 2, 3, 4 , and 5 inches.
You will then need to fold accordian style, so that your paper looks like this. Use the bone folder to get crisp folds.
Then put your paper under the ruler of your paper cutter and mark the center - 3 inches.
You will staple it on the 3 inch mark (trust me, you need to get that centered, or your points will not be even around the star). Now, one side will have 3 folds and the other side with have 2 folds and 2 ends.
This is the side that you want to cut from the top down to the corner.
I wanted my stars to be fat, so I went about 1.5 inches from the staple on each side. If you want them thinner, go closer to the staple, on more of an angle. This is what it will look like.
So now, you will use your sticky strip (or some other EXTREME form of adhesive) to attach the single edges together, fanning them around to make your star! All done. SERIOUSLY - 5 mins., time it. Have fun and happy crafting!!
P.S. - Thanks for all the compliments on my nails. My nail lady is my hero
and if it weren't for her, I would not have any. I am a BIG TIME BITER!!

This is where I have issues. I somehow end up with an even amount of folds on each side of the staple. Unsure on the cutting too. Do you know if there's a video out there cuz ugh, I'm struggling!
