Are you ready? Well then, get set and let's go!!
- 1 piece CS sized 4 3/4 X 6 scored at 3 inches for the base
- 1 piece DP sized 2 3/4 X 4 1/2 for the front
- 1 piece CS (DP if you don't want to stamp it) sized 4 1/4 X 11 for the insert
- 1 piece CS sized 1 1/4 X 6 3/4 for the belly band
- bone folder
- sticky strip
- 1 3/8 circle and word window punches
- scrap paper for the final embellishing
On the insert CS, you need to score it at 2 3/4, 5 1/2 and 8 1/4.
You need to make 2 pen marks on the 5 1/2 score line, so you know where to punch for the gift card to go in. You pen marks should be on 3/8 and 3 7/8.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now you need to stamp you images on the insert. Then you are going to fold the CS on the 5 1/2 mark, so you can punch the opening. Line your word window punch up with the 3/8 mark barely in the left side, go halfway up and punch. Line it up on the 3 7/8 mark, barely in the right side, and punch.
They don't precisely meet in the middle, but you need a bit more of an area to grab the card anyway. Here, you use the 1 3/8 circle punch to finish opening up the spot for the gift card.
Now, you need to fold your insert the rest of the way. This is what it should look like from the backside. In the front, you should fold the 2 sides toward the center on the score marks, to make the "M" shape. Put sticky strip on each side on one side of the center fold, peel off and stick together. You have just created your pocket!
Now you will add the DP to the front of the base that you will fold at the 3 inch score line. Then you need to glue or use sticky strip to add the insert to the inside of the card base. It will look like this when it is attached.
Now it is time to add the belly band. Put a piece of sticky strip on one end, peeling off the red liner. Then holding that end in the center of the front, wrap it around leaving a bit of room for sliding off and on, and attach it to the sticky strip in the front. The reason you are doing this in the front, is so that you can hide the seam with your embellishments or whatever you choose.
Here is my finished gift card holder folder. All products used are Stampin' Up! , except where noted.
Paper : soft sky, whisper white, Wintergreen DP, and Prints DP in celery
Inks : sage shadow, certainly celery, soft sky, black, always artichoke (for belly band embellie)
Stamps : The Snowflake Spot, Flaky Friends and Riveting (last two are now retired)
Accessories : sticky strip, scallop circle, 1 3/8, 1 1/4, word window punches, white gel pen, Sakura Stardust pen (All That Scraps)
I used the stardust pen to add a bit of sparkle to the DP and the Christmas tree on the belly band. You can get 2 holders from one solid and one white piece of CS, except for one belly band.
I found out from a couple people who the first 2 were making this card. Wanda had made the insert, and Paula added the card base. Paula's is closer to mine, but I still did the tutorial, since I had to measure it all myself and take the pictures, not knowing where the originals were. Thanks to those that sent links, though, much appreciated. Enjoy, have fun and happy stamping!!
I like this gift card holder that was so cute and very useful. Keep posting!
Aren't these the best? I made some this year and even made them for one of my SU classes. They were a big hit. I use paper that is cut 12" by 5 1/2 " and that makes the standard size card. Love your blog and the family picture you posted. Hope your new year is great!
