Time To Organize - Again

 

 

This is my craft room at the moment.  It has been this way every since I went through it to have my garage sale about 2 months ago.  We have been so busy this summer, gone, doing yard work, and spare time has not been used for cleaning.  On my trip to Calgary, I bought some shelves and organizational products to help get this room back in working order.  My classes start THIS MONTH -

Review A Recipe !

I'm actually not giving you a food recipe, but a really cool 3D recipe!

  When my grandma moved into a home back in April, she had a garage sale.  As grandkids, we got to go through everything and take what we wanted.  I remember Grandma used to always carry this around in her purse, and though I did not take it home that day, I took a picture.  I figured I could make my own, just using the poem - and here it is!

 

I took the poem and printed it off on the computer, cut it out, and made a recipe box to fit in my purse.  I added some ribbon, primas and self adhesive pearls to the front.  So what prompted me to finally make this now??

BIG NEWS !!

Can you believe I kept a secret and never even hinted, ONCE!!  Back in July, I was sent an email, and went to check it out.  I absolutely *hearted* everything I saw, and sent back a reply.  I then found out I was a part of the Angel's Landing Fall Design Team!!

I KNOW!!

I was pretty excited and there are TONS of images in each set in the Angel's Landing lineup.  AND, they are digital images, so there is no need to wait after you place your order, you just print them off!

  And print off, I did.  This little bear is from the Mini Bears & Birds set, and is colored with my Copics.  The sentiment is also from the set (it comes with 52 files!!) and I just positioned it above the bear.

I used some new DSP from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Holiday (not so) Mini catalog and will be available for purchase September 1st.  The base is ballet blue, and I used my Coluzzle and corner rounder to make the scallop oval (Tutorial Here).  The butterflies are Martha Stewart punches and the pearls are from Basic Grey HERE.

I can tell you this ... I am going to have a great time with this company and the amazing group of talent that I have the honor of working with.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Copics in Calgary

Well, what happens when 3 girls go to Calgary to be Copic Certified??

 

They come home with a truck load of IKEA stuff - LOL

Amy, my sister and myself went to Calgary ( a 7 hour drive).  Amy and I went to our Copic Certification class on Saturday with Sherrie Siemens.  A whole day to color with no distractions - HOW AWESOME!!  I had a great time, and even signed a woman's bag for her *how flattering*.  The only thing that sucks about that was I forgot to get a picture with her - AHHHH!  I did get a picture with Amy, I and our lovely teacher, Sherrie.  I was on tippy toes, Sherrie is tall!

 

The next day, we headed to IKEA for a day of shopping.  I will show you what I got when I get it set up in my craft room - I needed organizational and storage solutions for my area, since classes start in September.

I do have 1 opening in my 10 month class and 2 openings in my 8 month class.  If you are in the Saskatoon area and want to come to my house to play once a month contact me.  This is what being part of my Stampin' Up! Classes entails.

Scrap Organization

I spent about 2 hours the other day going through my scrap bin.  It is the big plastic tub on the floor, and it was FULL.  I put everything into piles of the same colors, and put the scraps of DSP (patterned paper) into a box.  A lot of it also went into the garbage - why do I keep pieces that are smaller than my pinky nail ???

Do you remember THIS POST?  I had wanted to add the scraps in file folders with each color and it took me until now to get that done.  I am busy trying to reorganize my craft room before I go to Calgary this weekend (happy dance for my Copic Certification Class !!).

I am also heading to Ikea for a day to get some storage/organizational products to hopefully help me keep my room a bit cleaner.  I have no place to store stuff now, so everything gets on the floor or the table.  And since I don't have classses in the summer, I have no reason to clean up so it just keeps piling on!  I'll show pictures in another post.

Now, I have to get back to work...LOL

Learning Something New Everyday!

For this next experiment, you will need the following objects.  Use them in the order given :

1. Bowl
2. Spoon
3. ONE piece of brownie (this is very important)
4. Microwave (high for 20 seconds)
5. ONE scoop of ice cream (again - important)
6. DRIZZLE (not pour, there is a difference) chocolate sauce

 

You will end up with the lovely jewel pictured above.  Apparently, you CAN NOT have this everyday and still lose weight.  You also CAN NOT have more than one brownie or numerous scoops of ice cream, have them swimming in chocolate sauce, and even maintain your weight.  Learning something new everyday...hehehe.

But, when you choose to have it on a rainy day, for the first time in 3 1/2 months, since you have lost more than 40lbs, it tastes REALLY GOOD!  When you do it more often (as in as often as possible), you end up like THIS!!

The first one, I *heart* the sponging.  The second one is nice with the embossed flowers and the scallop window.  The third one - OH MY - those flowers are covered in glitter.  It does not get more SPARKLAY than that!

ATS Review Preview - School Days

I'ts the most wonderful time of the year - MY KIDS ARE GETTING READY TO HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL !!!  So, I wanted to make a card for the teacher that is going to watch my kids, so I can get back to stamping.  Oh Craft Room, how I have missed thee.

So, back to the review.  EVERYONE does apples for the teachers, but I wanted to do something different, but still have it be relevant to school.  I thought and thought, and then realized, more so than apples are BOOKS!

  I am soooo loving this new color combination that Stampin' Up! put in the Cottage Wall DSP.  It includes my favorite color - PURPLE - so how could I not!!

I made a pale plum base, added the DSP and then used the Top Note to make a plum mat.  I stamped my bunny on white, colored her with Copics, and cut her out.

I stamped the sentiment on the mat, added the ribbon and then attached the bunny with dimensionals.  I used my Copic to go over the word "Teacher" to make it stand out.

Finally, I used one of the flowers from the Filigree Designer Brads.  Instead of attaching it with the brad, I used it like a charm and tied it on to the ribbon with silver cording!  I think it adds a nice touch. 

So this view is straight on the card, but how often do you look straight on, and where is the books I was talking about?

This is the inside view and the side view.  And now you see the "book" card that I created!  On the white mat I made for the inside, you could totally create a slit to slide in a gift card to a great Coffee Shop like Tim Horton's.  Or just stamp the sentiment inside, sign it and give it to them.  Head over to the ATS blog to see more cards using School Days, now available at All That Scraps.  Have fun and happy stamping!!
