It's usually the storage that is the issue, so let me show you the old versus the new!
The same amount of stamp cases and the same amount of stamps. ALL OF THEM STAMPIN' UP, and ALL OF THEM RUBBER!! One pile is mounted on wood and one on foam. Which would you pick to fill up your shelves? I can say for myself that smaller pile is the direction I am going for!!

I hope some of the above posters will read this. I have been unmounted for a long time. What I did to convert mine is this. For stamps that were already on wood I pulled them off. If the foam was damaged I replaced it with ezmount foam. if it is not dammaged I reduced the stickiness by sticking the foam on my jeans. New stamps get the same treatment and are then stored in a binder on those old photo album sheets that destroy photos. Here is a blog post that discribes the whole thing: http://scraptime.ca/blogpage/?p=290
Enjoy the new room in your craft area.

Can't wait to get some of those new stamps! I'm so glad that SU decided to stay with rubber, but found a way to make it better.
I am curious though... Are they going to offer both kinds? Is there a difference in price?
And, on an unrelated note... Your new picture is very nice. You look great! Congrats for all the hard work!!!

I'll be sticking with the wood. I don't think the stamps cling well enough to the clear block. Also, space isn't that big of a deal for me. I have a system where when my bookshelf is full, I have to get rid of some to buy more. I never have more than my bookshelf can hold and I always have current stuff.

I've become a clear stamp addict. :D
Can't wait to purchase some clear sets from SU!!

I'm loving the new foam-mounted stamps! I have converted many of my old block mounted to cling foam & absolutely would never go back. So glad they decided to help us out by condensing the amount of space we'll need to store our stamp sets.

i am switching to clear mount. i have already bought a bunch of ezmount to put all my older sets on!!!! this is the best thing stampin up has done for storage issues!!!

can you do anything with the wooden block stamps to use them as an unmounted stamp?
Posted by: nancy alvord | December 30, 2009 at 10:15 AM
Hi Julie -
I have both, mounted and unmounted. My problem with the unmounted is that despite all my good intentions, I seldom get the chance to sit down and mount the rubber on the cling foam. The individual stamps aren't too bad, I can always attach them temporarily to a block. But I have literally about 20 - 25 full big sheets of unmounted rubber stamps that I need to put on to cling mount foam. Maybe one of these days I'll get to it. LOL!

I am a die hard "Block" fan, I just love how the block feels in my hand ... but I decided for reasons of space I needed to try the "UM" sets and I'm kinda glad that I did! First, I have not used them yet but .. I love that they all come in the same size DVD cases (great space saving feature) and to show the name of the set AND pictures of all the stamps inside on the binder means that I won't have to print out the sticker sheets and add them to a binder anymore I can just create an ongoing list of what sets I own! WooHOO! I can't wait to use them and know if I can get past not using a "block" then it will be a very smooth transition for me as well as a space saver! I'm becoming a fan!

I like them both for different reasons. The wood blocks seem to have a better resale value too.

Hey Julie,
So you are going for the smaller pile? Like all the weight you lost lol?! You look absolutely awesome in the new pic you put on your blog - your hair and color are great, and that blue shirt really compliments your coloring. I bet you must have people who don't even recognize you...Have a great new year! Mary L at mklecuyer@hotmail.com

Ah...but Julie, that's not even the best part...on the side of the wooden blocks is the name of the stamp set. On the side of the foam stamps is the name with PICTURES! And all of the boxes are the same size!
I'm a fan!
