We have a family birthday bash tonight, and one of the cards is for a guy, my BIL. I find guy cards hard to do, since you can't over embellish ... hehehe. I found a cool site called Clean and Simple Stamping, and they have some great layouts. The simple look is great for the men in our lives, so I followed one of theirs for this card.
I used white as my base, and then some textured sahara sand for the next layer. I punched holes in it with the 1" circle, and the black and white DSP with the 3/4" circle. I cut the black layer with the Circle Scissor, and stamped the sentiment in black. I then put everything together with dimensionals, so the whole card is raised. The simple look is great, and the color scheme is perfectly masculine.
Try a simple card, even this layout, and see what you can come up with for the men in your life! Have fun and happy stamping!!
The houndstooth is from retired DSP and I just made the Circle SCissor as small as it could go to make those circles :

Hi Julie,
I just found your blog & subscribed! Love your projects & cards! Can you tell me what the DSP with the black/white houndstooth pattern is for the circles on your card? Also you mentioned using the Circle Scissor. Is there a certain measurement you used? It is a GREAT masculine card! Thanks for sharing!

oh, what a great card & thank you for sharing this site, so we can go directly to it; I have the same problem with masculine cards, but, when I'm stuck I go to your site viola----I have found the inspiration I need!!!
