A Star Is Born

 

I have a baby shower to attend this week and had fun making a baby card. I know the colors are not what you would normally choose, but her baby announcements were olive and chocolate. I just added the yellow since the sentiment is about a star.

The onsie is from Stampin' Ups! Baby Tees (#118621). I inked up the wheel with Stazon (#101406), and colored it with my markers. I then cut it out and attached it with dimensionals. Every single layer is sponged with chocolate chip ink except the onsie itself, even the ribbon! The DSP is from the Brights pack (#117155).

The reason I did not post this yesterday ...

  I took my Level 2 Zumba training!!

I am so excited and SORE ... lol. The class was pretty intense even having BURPEES in the workout!! The choreo and learning the different steps was great and we all got to choreo a new song and share it with everyone.

A Golfer's Birthday

We had a family birthday party last night for my mother-in-law AND my brother-in -law, so I also had a masculine card to make.

  Who knew that a piece of DSP from the Pawsitively Prints pack (#117396), designed specifically for the Build-A-Bear line, would work perfectly for a guy card ?!?

To me, argyle has always been for the golfer and when I saw the colors, I knew it would work. The small stripes across the greens was daffodil delight, but I did not want that to be an overwhelming feature. The only yellow I added is the mat and the 3 brads. All the ink is always artichoke, both stamping and sponging. The card stock is artichoke, as well as certainly celery.

I did some paper piercing and distressing, which is great for a guys card, and the sponging just adds to the feel. The image is from the single On The Green (#117139) stamp.

It all came together nicely and is perfect for the man in the family. Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

Elegant Lace ... CARD ... I KNOW !!

Yes, I did make a card and yes you can say FINALLY!! It even has a tutorial to go with it.

I got my inspiration for this card from this picture.  There is even a tutorial on how to make it HERE !! First off, I absolutely LOVE pencil skirts, they can really slim aperson down, and they are sexy without being showy. Add in the lace and you have a feminine SHOWSTOPPER.

I have had this idea for quite sometime to put this on a card (because I don't sew), and saw someone else (maybe Splitcoast ??) use punches for a lacey look. I decided to try my hand at it, and came up with a card that is perfect for many occasions - bridal showers, engagements, christenings, birthdays, baptisms, etc. The one I made is for my Mother In Law's birthday.

OK, now get out your punches and create along with me!

  The punches you are going to need for this are the scallop edge (#119882), the eyelet border (#119853), and the dotted scallop ribbon border (#119275).

I am sure that you could use other brands or ones that are similar, but these are the Stampin' Up! punches that I have and am going to use. Find what works in your room and play along.

  My first layer is punched with the eyelet punch on card stock weight vellum, and then it is glued on ONLY ON THE TOP EDGE. I got it as close to the bottom as I could and my base is very vanilla.

  The next row is punched with the scallop edge using the Vanilla DSP from the Nuetrals Prints pack (#117157). This was glued on top and again only on the top edge.

  The next layer is the ribbon punch and it is punched into plain vanilla card stock. I glued it over the top edge of the DSP layer to cover it. I punched 3 strips of each kind of paper and then glued them in the same order up the rest of the card.

 

And here is my finished card. Doesn't it totally go with the skirt up top?!?  I added one of my FAVORITE FLOWERS and some organza ribbon. I also stamped a sentiment in the same color that I sponged the flower in, pink pirouette.

I know my MIL will absolutely LOVE this card, since she is very into the Victorian style. Hope you have fun, tootles and happy stamping!!

 

5 Months and I'm Grateful

Yesterday was 5 months since Russ went to his heavenly home, and I still miss him.

People ask me if these "anniversary" days are harder. To be honest, if my niece had not posted on facebook yesterday, I would not have thought of the "date". Let me tell you why. This is not a slight to others, BUT I can state with some certainty that even the family does not think of Russ everyday. They have reached the time where it is not an everyday thought, so the "anniversary" dates bring back these feelings.

But for Dylan, Jayden and I, this is a daily reality. We wake up without Russ here, we do everything in a home that Russ and I designed and built together - our dream home. I see an empty side of the bed everyday (except for my lovely pillow!!), and sit in his desk to pay the bills.

The dates that are hard for me are wedding anniversay, birthdays, etc. The date of his death is just another day in the reality that has become my new normal. But, I am grateful!!

1. That I have 2 little boys to always cherish as a part of Russ.
2. I had a husband who was smart financially that I have little debt to deal with.
3. I have a roof over my head.
4. I have food on the table.
5. The heat is working (most of the time ... lol)
6. I have family and friends that are so willing to help me out.
7. I am healthy.
8. I am happy - Yes, you CAN have joy in all circumstances.
9. I have a BOAT LOAD of memories that I can look back on.
10. Most importantly, I have a God who has NEVER left me to do this on my own.

Bracelet Box

We are staying at my friend, Lisa's, here in Miami. It was her birthday in February, and I made her a gift, BUT I had to wait to post it until I gave it to her.

 

This is the box I made for the gft, and I do not have measurements on it, sorry. And inside was something I also created.

 

I made the bracelet for her, and I also made myself one, so we would be matching. I got the idea from HERE, but I changed a few things on the way I made it. She is wearing it right now, so I know she likes it. We are back at her place now and are planning to spend a lot of time by the pool - watching the boys swim while TANNING!! Something I cannot do in the Saskatchewan snow ... LOL.  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

 

Magic Kingdom

 

The boys and I at the Magic Kingdom. They were so excited to see the castle, and they took so many pictures. I'm sure there will be a lot of stuff deleted when I get home ... LOL. We are having a blast so far, except that Dylan lost his Nintendo DS and has been pretty upset about that. Hopefully he can find it in all the stuff before we go home. We have today and tomorrow here yet, before we head back to Miami. Going to have a blast at Epcot and Disney Downtown today.

Miami Fun!!

 

We are so far LOVING the Miami weather.  Warm and sunny, but NO LUGGAGE!  Dylan and Jayden and enjoying swimming in their underwear, BWAHAHAHA!! We are getting ready to head to Disney today, so back on the road for a bit.  Gotta love having a DS for road trips and plane rides. Check in later  :)

Lunch Hero

Do you want to be a lunch kit hero for your kids? I had a brain wave the other day and my kids went NUTS for their sandwich (and  kinda liked it too, hehehe).

Ok, so it seems super easy, and I may be the only one in the world who had not thought of this before. Lightly spread Nutella on 2 slices of bread. If it is too thick, the flavor is overwhelming. Then add some sliced bananas on top and sandwich together. They will not put this done, and they may even have to fight you for it.  Enjoy!!
