Paper Pleasing Ideas

RockStar Birthday !!

Here is one of the other ideas I was playing with.  It turned out pretty good, I think, but I will switch the dark and light sponging next time.

I stamped the image (Extreme Guitar) with versamark on white, and then embossed it clear EP.  Then, I positioned some post-it notes to sponge the different colors of inks, pale plum and pretty in pink.  I was trying to portray the spot lights that are on stage.

I punched some stars to be the embellishments and covered the one with stickles.  I added some brads, and tied the ribbon, though the image panel.  I wanted to try this image for a girl card (my niece's birthday is next week), but using blue, green and embossing in black would make a great guy card.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Snowboarder's Heaven !!

Embossing and dazzling diamonds - nothing too over the top for a guy.  In fact, a lot of guys I know from 6-26 would love to get this card (maybe even older).  I was thinking of an idea and was hoping it would work.  I used it on a sled 2 years ago.  When I was cleaning up my room, I found it and decided to try something out.

 I think it TOTALLY WORKS!!  I created the little scene by stamping the larger pine from Lovely As A Tree in black on bordering blue.  Then I tore the white to create the snow, using dazzling diamonds on the edge.  I used my white gel pen to add a bit of snow in the trees, as well.

Then I stamped my snowboarder with versamark on back, and embossed him with clear.  I cut it out, and added him to the card with dimensionls.  The sentiment was next, and the black brads finished it off.

I have some other ideas for a couple more of the silhouettes and if they work, I will definitely show them to you.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

 

Butterfly Sketch

  Here is my card for the sketch today.  Some of you have asked my how I go about making cards, and everyday is different.  Sometimes, the colors are the leading factor, and then I choose sets that go along with that.  With the sketch challenge, I have to find a set that will work with the layout of the card. 

Today, I had about 4 stamp sets that would work, but then I pulled the colors that I wanted to use.  At that point, all the other sets did not work with these colors.  The set I chose to work with is Flight Of The Butterfly, and the background stamp is French Filigree.  The colors are ballet blue, so saffron, regal rose and certainly celery.

I did use the ticket corner punch in the opposite corners on the layers, just for some added interest, and the adhesive pearls really finish off the butterflies.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Another Challenge

Today, I played the color challenge.  Man it feels good to get back to those things!  They used to be my "ME" time in the morning, but when my boys got older, I had less time for that.  Man, I ♥ school ... hehehe.

The color challenge was Bravo Burgundy, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla and Always Artichoke (optional).

I embossed my flowers on Shimmery CS and then used the Re-Inker Watercolor technique on them.  I waited for them to dry, and then cut them out.

The base is artichoke with some retired CS from last year.  I used the burgundy CS as m base for the flowers, and I cut it with the Top Note die.  THe leaves are the Little Leaves Sizzlet, and then tiny flowers are from the Trio Flower punch.  I colored the centers with the coral marker and then added an adhesive pearl to it.

I left the sentiment off, so I could use it as a quick card for any occasion. Who knew coral and burgundy looked so good together ?  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Easy Ornament Card

   Here is how it goes :

1. Stamp images on different colored cardstock with white craft ink.
2. Emboss said images with white embossing powder.
3. Punch out said images with the matching coordinating punch.
4. Tie on silver cord, and adhere to card with dimensionals.
5. Emboss sentiment with silver embossing powder.

Seriously easy and fast to reproduce!!  Looking for an idea for a Christmas card that you can do in a hurry since you left it to the last minute?  This could be one of them.  All products are Stampin' Up!  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Golden Peace

I am hoping to get back into the challenges over at Splitcoast.  My life is starting to find a routine again, and with both boys in school for 2 days a week, I can play a little more!!  So, I sat down and made a card for the Sketch Challenge.

Here is the card that I created for the sketch.  All products Stampin' Up! except for the ribbon.  I used some of the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP with not quite navy and white.

The sentiment panel was not a part of the sketch, but I felt it needed a little extra.  Both the sentiment and the snowflakes are embossed with gold.  It ended up being a very rich and elegant looking card.

I have a class at my house tonight, so I will be stamping more this evening.  I'll show you the project we made tomorrow.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Retro Ornaments

The only stamping on this card is the sentiment.  Man,  LOVE that punch, and with the right DSP, you have the card done for you!  I used the Holiday Lounge DSP, and used a couple of the different patterns to get the look.  That is the nice thing about these Stampin' Up! packs, all the paper coordinate with each other.  The colors in this one are sahara sand, taken with teal and ruby red.

I used the ornament punch from the (not-so) Mini Catalog and then matted it on the ruby red.  Did you know it has a matching stamp set ?!?  I have a card to share tomorrow using that set.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Sending Holiday Peace

I am glad they had this Scenic Season set in the new catalog.  I am trying to find new ways to use it, and am enjoying the things I have found so far.  I really like this particular pattern in the DSP pack, Christmas Cocoa Specialty.

The colors here are real red, soft suede and white.  I used gold brads, and the sentiment is from a retired set.  I punched it out with the large oval and then used the scallop oval for the suede mat.  The red mat came from the Magnetic Movers and Shakers dies for the Big Shot.  Those dies are awesome, because they are larger than the punch and are perfect for matting.  It also comes with 4 shapes - scalloped oval, modern label, heart and star!

About the weather, it has been snowing ALL WEEK, but not much has accumulated.  The boys think it is about time for Christmas, since it has been snowing "so long".  It probably doesn't help that I have been listening to Christmas music.  My next solo in church is December 9, so that song is obviously Christmas, and I have been singing it constantly.  The lights are outside on the house, as well, so I guess I can kinda understand where they are coming from.  I guess that means I won't be putting up the tree early this year, OR, hmmmm, I have another idea!  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Dazzling Trees

I absolutely *heart* the way this card turned out!!  I was not sure how it was going to end up, but I surged ahead and am glad I did.

I stamped the trees from Scenic Season on white with versamark, and then embossed it with the heat and stick powder.  I then sprinkled on dazzling diamonds, and was hoping that you could see them properly.  It helps that I sponged the white with night of navy first, I think.

I wish you could "see" this card, it looks so gorgeous and those trees are sooooo sparkly, like they are covered in frost.

I have to jet to a family Thanksgiving meal now, so I will have another card tomorrow.

Retro Christmas

I really like the retro/modern (oxymoron?) styling of the Holiday Lounge DSP from Stampin' Up!  Some may not think it is very "me", but I LOVE the colors that they married together - Ruby Red, Taken with Teal, Basic Grey, and Sahara Sand  This card uses the teal, and sand. 

I really liked the Christmas trees on the DP, they all have different textures and patterns on them.  I decided to use the pine from Lovely as a Tree as my main image.  I stamped it in sand, and then inked up the tiny poinsettia in the Christmas Punch set (hostess) with teal.  I added the silver brads to the centers for some extra dimension.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and then punched it with the Modern Label.  I am going to have to try that tree on another card when it is not so busy.  I think that look deserves to be the main attraction.  Have fun and happy stamping!!
