Happy Mother's Day

This day is such a wonderful day, but it can be sad, as well. For those who miscarried a baby this year, or an adoption fell through, or you lost your own mother in the past year, this can be a hard day. My prayers go out to those who have suffered, and this day reminds you of that suffering. This card is also for you.

I joined a blog hop, with Paper Garden. They sent me some paper, and this card is made from CS in the Metallic Cardstock line up, Pearlized White and Stardream Kunzite. These are both beautifully shimmery papers, with a lovely feel to them. I am so impressed with this cardstock, I can hardly wait to play more !! I made my card the standard 4.25X5.5, but tore off the front edge. I added the Kunzite on the inside to really pop the texture, and then added my image to the front. I stamped the panel in grey, with the purple sentiment, and then the panel was added with dimensionals. I decided the 3 pearls really would complete the look, and it ended up complimenting the paper nicely,

Father's Day Calm

Father's Day is coming up this Sunday, June 21. I did make a card to be ready for it, back when I was at the craft day HERE. Then I promptly forgot about posting anymore, which is ok for me, since now you will have some inspiration for your card this week , LOL.

It is simple and perfect for a guy. I stamped the image with Stazon black, and the water-colored over the image to create the look (on watercolor paper). I matted it on bashful blue, attached with dimensionals and then stamped the sentiment underneath. The bonus is, you can stamp any sentiment for any occasion, and it will still work. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out ! Have fun and happy stamping !

Plum Roses

I decided it was time to get back into the stamping mode of things!! Our church had a crafting day, so I pack up a ton of stuff, and went to play. I got 2 projects and 3 cards completed which you will get to see in the next while - WOOHOO!

First up is a card I was playing around with.

I made the rose out of elegant eggplant (center) and perfect plum CS that I ran through the crimper and separated. I just squashed them together and glued to make the rose. I added the leaves and wings from the bird punch and then hand drew the border around, after I stamped on the sentiment. Simple and elegant, hope you enjoy!

Another Tragedy

Well, I have been away again for a bit, and I WILL get back into it, I just need to clear my head space again for a bit.

On January 28, 2014, Mom (Russ' mom) was rushed to the hospital. She had clotting and internal bleeding and had to have her leg amputated. In the span of 3 months, she had 4 surgeries, including taking out the massive tumors in her colon. She was diagnosed with cancer, and in the same areas as Russ. She fought just over a year, but on March 2, 2015, she joined her husband and son up in heaven. This has brought up a lot of pain for the boys and I, so we covet your prayers as we go through this again.

We will stamp again, I can promise you that, and hopefully within the next couple weeks !

Shipmate's Color

I was WAY behind the 8-ball, and only sent out the color challenge to Lindsey last night !! This is what I found for us :

I absolutely fell in love with these colors, but mostly that pattern. I wish I had paper like that!!

So, anyway, I decided to go ahead with a guy card, since they are kinda a rare-ish thing. And these colors lend themselves fabulously to a masculine theme. and for some reason, they threw me a sailor's vibe, so that is the direction I headed in with my card.

I even googled "Sailor's Knot", so I could make it even better. This is a super simple card - the knot was the hardest thing about it!. Made my own DSP with the ledger stamp from The Open Sea set, and sahara sand ink / card stock. The rest of the colors are white, marina mist, and night of navy. I think it turned out pretty great, and another one for the gentleman's stockpile !

Just For You, Valentine !

This week, our only challenge was Clean and Simple (CAS card). I decided to re-use the last sketch we did, since it totally fit the criteria. I did want to put a spin on it, though, and came up with a window card !!

Most of my {heart} confetti got covered up in the silver glitter, but I still love it. I tried also to make it look quilted, but not sure if I succeeded, LOL. Lots of empty space with the center taking up all the attention.

A Sketchy Boat

So, did everyone enjoy their Christmas break? I sure did, and for the first time in over 3 years, my whole family was together at my old house in Saskatchewan (my sister is living there right now) !! It was a such a great time, awkward {a bit} for my hubby, since he doesn't know them that well, but good.

As you can see, Lindsey and I also enjoyed a rest from our blogs, but back at'er today with a sketch for you! We decided that a simple sketch would get the juices flowing, without a shock to the system ... LOL

Though, sometimes, these Clean and Simple designs can be the hardest to work with, but are PERFECT for a masculine card, so that is what I threw together.

Simple and crisp, spot on for a gentleman in your life. The boat is a manly image, the blending of the water under it, with the binder twine is "just enough" accessories for the feel, and the simple font for the sentiment just fits with the theme.

A Christmas Rose

So Lindsey and I decided to do a color challenge, and then we took it a step further ...

We also both decided to incorporate the rose into our design!!

Love how the blues are there with the POP of the red, so striking! I really like the layout, as well. The panels set everything off, since it has the grey and white. I am so excited for Christmas this year, and I am trying to get all my cards done for family and friends quickly. How about you, looking forward to the holiday ??
