First of all, I would LOVE to thanks everyone who keeps coming back to my blog. I am almost at 5000 hits and it hasn't even been 3 weeks!! WOW, I never thought it would go so well. <------------- You can get it to come up on your home page, like My Yahoo, or an email.
Now today, being Wednesday, there is a sketch challenge posted. I will not be able to stamp today, as I have swimming lessons and stuff to do in the city, but I am going to post a card that I just made the other day.
I am really in love with the simple, one layer cards that you see on SCS, but was a little scared to try one. Simple does not mean easy. They have to be well thought out, because you can't keep adding and adding, to make up for your mistakes. Embellishments are kept to a minimum, if any at all, so you have to plan what you are going to do. This is the one I came up with...
I don't have the Fabriano watercolor paper that EVERYONE is talking about, so I tried it on my own. I think it came out rather well.
First, I stamped the flowers from SU's Natural Beauty in Jet Black Stazon. I then cut a square template into a transparency, and centered it over the flowers. I sponged SU barely banana from the edge toward the center, trying to get a halo effect around the flowers.
I watercolored the flowers with my aqua painter and my SU WWC in the colors always artichoke, pale plum and perfect plum. Thy blend so perfectly on the watercolor paper. I then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to line up my sentiment (SU's Sincere Salutations) and stamped it in SU's basic black. I didn't need it to be the Stazon, as this was the last step on the card.
Try a One-Layer Wonder. They are simply beautiful, don't ya think? Have fun and happy stamping!!
what a beauty! I LOVE your idea to make a transparency mask... I've got to do that! The yellow really makes a beautiful 'pop' for the setiment and flowers! stunning!

Very nice...I just made a one-layer card the other day and if it wasn't for JulieHRR's sketch, it probably would not have turned out. And yes, with the SC today, all I have been doing is covering up my mistakes. I think I might just give up and have some chocolate instead!
