The challenge for today was to make a summer card, but have NO REFERENCE to summer on it at all. I figured the easiest way to do this, was to not put on any sentiment. They say a picture is worth a thousand words!! I decided to have my card reflect what I am waiting for. A nice, warm, quiet day, sitting by the water at the lake. Our cabin is up north in bush country, so there are trees right up to the edge of the water, so peaceful and *I CAN HARDLY WAIT*.
Doesn't it look like you want to join me there??? I can hardly wait till the snow melts and we can go out on the water.
I used all Stampin' Up products on this card. The CS is really rust and whisper white. I stamped the image from SU's Lovely as a Tree on the white in black and then stamped them again on acetate. I lined it up and then brayered it on as a reflection. It goes down a lot lighter, which is perfect for a reflection. I watercolored it using my watercolor pencils and an aquapainter. I then distressed my edges with the cutter kit *love that little tool* and matted it on the rust. I then put the brads on the top...and done. I didn't want to take away from the peaceful feeling, so I didn't add too many embellishments.
BONUS : Here is how I did the reflection...
In the first picture, I stamped the trees on the paper and on the acetate. Then in picture number 2, I turned it upside down, with the ink towards the paper, and lined it up, so the images would be matching. I then brayered over it, to leave the reflection. Color and embellish as desired!!
Try a reflection today, I can't imagine all the different things that you can come up with. Have fun and happy stamping!!
Thanks for the tip on how you did the reflection image will be trying this for sure

I love the idea of reflections but I am still a novice. I would love to get this good. I found acetate was had to get a good image. I tried several and the ink bubbled. I finally tried the back of a rubber unmounted stamp and got the best result. I just don't have a big enough piece to do a large card and I know I can buy one but it has drawbacks. Like being actuate with the placement.

wow, your explaination of the acetate and brayering finally clicked and i honestly think i may try a reflection card. either i have had cotton in my ears or a fluff filled brain, but i finally just understood your wonderfully uncomplicated explaination.THANKS! wow... off i go muttering to myself in complete disbelief that it is really not hard... hmmm... i am really quite unable to process things in a bright and educated fashion lately...oh and such a pretty card too!! thanks again...
