I have seen the cutest project in the SCS and I had to try it out. Then I thought, I should share this idea. Punches, we all have them, but use them only for specific purposes. But there are creative ways to use your punches, as well. For this project, I used the oval punches, the spring bouquet punch and the 3/4 circle punch. *OOOO* - I just love the end result. This is the card that totally caught my eye by stampscout. She said that she had CASEd someone, who had CASEd someone, and so on. So I searched the gallery to find the original poster. I had to go back to Oct. 25, 2006 and found this card by Motherof6. I went further and couldn't find anything, so I think she is the original poster.
I changed a few things from hers and here is a mini tutorial to help you see how to put it together.
I punched the small oval 3 times, 2 black and one white. I punched the large oval once in black for the main body. I punched the 3/4 circle punch for the head and the spring flower punch for the beak and feet. I have the large green flower there to show you which one I used and how I cut it up.
I glued the small white oval to the large black oval, right at the top. I them glued the 2 small black ovals at the back, to make the wings.
I glued the single petal to the circle to make the beak. I glued the feet on the bottom of the large oval and then had to figure out somthing to do with the eyes. I don't have any googlie eyes, though I think now I will have to buy some...hehehe. But for now, I embossed my gold brads with white detail powder. I then drew the black on with a sharpie pen. Now for the finished penguin...
IS IT NOT PERFECT ?!? These women had some awesome ideas!! WOW, what a creative thing to do with the punches.
I ran my bashful blue through my Cuttlebug with the snowflakes folder. I glued some glitter on to the snowflakes, which you can't see to well, but IRL it is so *SPARKLAY*! I printed off the sentiment on whisper white paper and then
tore it to make the snow layers.
I then sprayed it with my gold PearlEX that I keep in hairspray, so it shimmers. I took my bashful blue ink pad and rubbed it on the edge of the torn layers to give a bit more dimension. I glued on my penguin body , but mounted the head on dimensionals. I am going to be making more of these, since they are fun and easy.
Try something new with your punches, and see what things you can make. Have fun and happy stamping!!
