I am so LOVING those scalloped circle punches that *everyone* is using. Today, the rubber artist in the Featured Stamper challenge was the Diva herself Kendra Giles. She has one of those punches, and as you can see in her gallery, she {hearts} it too!!
Unfortunately, I do not have one of those punches, so I set out to improvise and a "YES - it worked" came out of my mouth ON THE FIRST TRY!! All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
I used the 5th line on the circle Coluzzle to cut out the mustard piece. (ETA : The diameter of this circle is 2 7/8") This was just a guess, since I wanted it to be relatively the same size as the circles I had seen in the gallery. I proceeded to take off the guide on my corner rounder punch and line up the scallops around the circle - that number 5 line was the PERFECT FIT!! They matched up exactly on the last punch, how *awesome* is that?!?
And here is the result of my scalloped success. I CASEd Kendra's card here, and I just changed the colors, the sentiment, and the ribbon - couldn't mess with that beauty. I used more mustard and very vanilla CS. I ran the vanilla through the Cuttlebug with the D'vine Swirls embossing folder and sponged it with the mustard ink. I also sponged the card base with the same ink, as well. I tied on my ribbon, and set the vanilla piece on with dimensionals.
I cut and #4 on the Coluzzle for my vanilla piece and used the mustard, ruby red, summer sun and old olive markers to color in the flowers from Happy Harmony. I stamped them off once before putting it on the vanilla. I stamped the sentiment in chocolate chip, from the same set. Glued the circles together and mounted them with dimensionals, too.
I can honestly say, I never thought I would be posting a tutorial today, I didn't think it would work. BUT it does, so go try to make one of the biggest crazes in paper crafting right now - scallops. Have fun and happy stamping!!
ANOTHER EDIT : This tutorial also works with the coluzzle oval #5, and here is a post on how to take off the guide on your corner rounder .

The universal use of elections as a tool for selecting representatives in modern democracies is in contrast with the practice in the democratic archetype, ancient Athens. Elections were considered an oligarchic institution and most political offices were filled using sortition, also known as allotment, by which officeholders were chosen by lot.

Julie, can you use the corner rounder for making a scalloped edge on a square or rectangle? I would love to know how!
I really enjoy your blog. You are a very creative person!

I'd been shown how to make scallops on a straight edge. It's great to see I can use my punch round a curve as well.

Hey Julie, I love your blog so much. This technique was such a discovery! Thanks for sharing with us other papercrafters! I used the technique for the first time on a set of cards for a swap. I needed a bigger scalloped circle and it did the trick. Thanks again and keep up the AMAZING work you do.

I have one quick question. How do you take the guide off the corner rounder? Didn't even know you can do that! Thanks in advance, and beautiful card. I love the scalloped shapes too but can never find them at the store.
Posted by: Carla McGuire | April 12, 2007 at 09:39 AM
OMGosh!! Thank you for the post! I am rushing home to try this today!
Posted by: Angela | April 02, 2007 at 10:04 AM
I will have to try this! I have both the slit punch and the corner punch, but this saves a step of cutting the circle out of the middle. Cool and thanks for sharing,

I'm with Lisa- I'd love if you'd update your post with the circle measurement. I have the nesting coluzzle as well. I love the scallop punches that people have been using, but hadnt purchased the punch because of the price and the massive size of the punch. I think I may purchase another corner rounder just to do this! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I have both the regular and the companion, now I don't know which is which and I keep meaning to write it on here, can you measure the size of the circle you used so I can measure mine and figure out which one is the circle template and which is the companion? Thanks so much!

Oh Julie, this is great! I have the scallop oval punches, but not the circles. And it frustrates me when that circle shape is really better for the design. Thanks so much for this tutorial. I'm also subscribing to your blog! :o) Linda

I am still waiting for the circles that I ordered months ago. Maybe I do not need them!!!!!! I do like the colors that you used and I really did case it. I won't copy it!!!! But, I will try to use the technique to scallop it!!. Thanks for the great idea. I do have the square scallops and got them at AC Moore's in the last month but they are not the new punches, but I can labor that. I also have the large scallop oval but not the smaller one. Naturally, that is on order as well.I am going to try this great idea and see how I do. Thanks so much,Mo
