I loved the sketch today, and this was the first idea that popped into my head! I fought it for about 45 mins. trying to think of something else, since those roses are a bit of work. I finally just went with it - DUH...hehehe - because I figured it would look awesome!
I followed the paper tole instructions on SCS. I stamped the all the petal stamps (Roses In Winter) twice in real red, so my rose is 6 layers. I think it looks more realistic. I stamped the leaves from Natural beauty in Stazon and used the aqua painter with sage shadow and handsome hunter ink to watercolor them.
On the sage layer under the rose, I stamped the floral BG in the same color. I matted everything on black and put the red grosgrain over the black piece. I think I cut the black piece a bit too big, for the size of the ribbon, but I do like the impact of it with the rose. I stamped the sentiment from Warmest Regards in black and all done!!
This is such a beautiful technique, and even though it is a bit of work, the end result is STUNNING! I get so many comments on cards with these roses at my workshops. Try one and see how you like it. Have fun and happy stamping!!
This is beautiful Julie! Congrats on being #46.
