Today's sketch was perfect for me!! I needed to make a birthday card for my mom, AND I wanted to use the perforating blade on my cutter kit *love that little tool*. Since she loves to read, I was encorporating a bookmark on the card. All products are Stampin' Up!
This sketch was the PERFECT layout to pull this off. I used sahara sand, pretty in pink and white CS. BEFORE I DID ANYTHING ELSE, I used the perforating blade to make my cut line, and built the card around that. If you click on the pic, you can see it better. I then stamped my pink CS with fine lace in sahara, and scalloped the bottom with my corner rounder punch. I matted this and then sponged all the way around in sahara.
I stamped the small flourishes from Priceless on the white in sahara, and sponged the edges in pink. I stamped the butterfly on white and on vellum with pink and cut them out. I glued both on ONLY by the body, and then bent the vellum ones up, so they look like she is fluttering. I stamped my sentiment on the bottom (Cute Converse), and added the photo corners in the top. I sponged them before attaching them with vintage brads. I then used dimensionals to put it on the sahara layer - this one was sponged and punched with the ticket corner. I matted the ticket corner punched white right on the card, then added the brads in the corners. I then added the whole image panel with more dimensionals.
Bookmark side - I used some of the pink that I had cut off from the previously mentioned piece and glued that on. I then sponged my sahara with the same ink and added the white taffetta ribbon, using sticky strip to attach this. I wanted the heavy duty adhesive, since this will be used a lot. I then used my crop-a-dile *WOW, what an awesome tool*, to punch the hole and add the jumbo eyelet. I added some more ribbon for the top and it was all done. Now here are some shots to see the butterfly better and how the card looks from the top.
The actual card only goes up to the perforated edge. That way it only has to tear through one layer. Have fun and happy stamping!!
how stinkin' clever are you?! i love this card, and the bookmark idea...ingenious!
