Now say that 10 times really fast!! I have been wanting to do this criss cross tutorial for awhile, but was waiting on a particular stamp set. Now that I have it cut and mounted, here it is! I also used the color challenge (bayou blue, chocolate chip, sahara sand), and all products are Stampin' Up!
This one is prettyself explanitory, but I'll make sure you got it... LOL. You need to cut your paper the long way, and score it at 5.5. It will measure 4.25 X 11.
Now you will need to cut your paper on the top, from the score line down to the opposite corner. Now, you will need to save this piece of CS, since it will become the other side of the card.
Now is when you do your stamping. I used baroque motifs, in bayou. I line up the cut off piece on the card, to make sure I am stamping on the right side. I also sponged what is going to be the outside edge. Before you use sticky strip to attach this piece, flip it over and stamp on the other side (triangle area). You can also attach this with brads, but make sure you put enough on the bottom, so that your insert won't fall out.
Now, you flip the other piece over, using sticky strip, or your prefered form of adhesive. Now your card is DONE!! All that is left is for you to embellish as desired.
This is what it looks like. Directions are below for the embellishing. You can click on all pictures for a better view.
Now here is the final result. I used my sponging techinique (tutorial here), to sponge the edge of my card in the same color as the CS, bayou. I cut 2 strips of chocolate CS, to put along the edges, but this could also be ribbon, or whatever works with your card. I used my mat pack to pierce the holes on it before attaching it to the card.
I stamped the holly from Sleigh Bells Ring on sahara twice with the brown stazon. I watercolored them in with bravo burgundy and handsome hunter with my aqua painter. I cut them out and glued one to the card, and put the other on dimensionals. I stamped the sentiment on sahara in bayou, punched the corners with the ticket corner punch and sponged the edges. I attached it with dimensionals to the chocolate, which had also been punched and glued to the card.
For my insert, I stamped the image onto sahara with the brown stazon, and watercolored it with various inks, the snow colored with the white gel pen. I stamped it to the one side, so I could write a message. I then sponged the edges in bayou and matted it on the chocolate chip. I stamped with word from Everyday Flexible Phrases onto the bayou, then punched it out with the round tab. I sponged those edges, too, before attaching it with gold brads. Finally, I used my 2-way glue pen to add dazzling diamonds for the added Christmas sparkle!
Hope this inspires you to try a new way of making a card. Have fun and happy stamping!!
Thank You, this makes more sense. Was having a hard time getting it. Thinking it too much.
