Here is my card for Julia's challenge today, to use pins on our card. I seen a stunning card on SCS, here, and thought it would make an AMAZING Christmas card. All products are Stampin' Up!
I used my tutorial here to get my rectangle, sponging the edge in with mellow moss. I stamped the evergreen from Lovely As A Tree with versamark, while I still had my mask on, and then colored them with my pastels for a softer look, then removed the mask.
I inked the tree again with always artichoke ink, and drew on it with my chocolate chip marker, stamping it over top my window. I then added some Tulip Puffy paint for snow and heated it up with my heat tool. I stamped the sentiment from Holidays and Wishes in chocolate chip, using my stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.
I hinged the side, by scoring in 1/2 inch in the front, and glued that area to the back of the card. I then wrapped the ribbon around it, adding in a bit of chocolate ribbon. I then added the beads from my Pretties kit to the hat pin and threaded that through the ribbon.
This card would be SOOOO EASY to mass produce. Even if you left off the hat pin, it would still make a big impression. Have fun and happy stamping!!
Julie,
My girlfriend and I made these cards and they came out pretty good I thought except when we attempted the Tulip puffy paint the always artichoke ink keeps bleeding in to it and we get greenish snow, we have tried several things, hitting it right away with the heat gun, waiting a bit, letting dry overnight then using the heat gun, nothing seems to be working ..... any suggestions or futher instructions on how to avoid this, our cards are done except for this step. Thanks for any help you can give.

Just like the experts on TV, know your terrain. Be well familiar with the area, the closest areas where help can be found.

Julie, it's a beautiful card -- in a punky grungy kind of a way! And I'm keeping you in my prayers.

Hi Julie,
I know I've already commented on this card when you first posted it, but just had to tell you that I did a version of this card for my stamp club on Friday and they all just loved it! I didn't have the pretties kit tho, so I had to change it a bit. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful card! I posted my version on my blog today with a link back to yours. Thought you might like to see it: http://lwdesigns.blogspot.com/2007/11/thankful.html

I'm going to CASE this card for my Christmas card this year (I make about 100). I selected it before reading how it was made, and thought it was a window with vellum and had visions of cutting around the foreground tree. But I liked the depth and complexity to it. If you can just imagine how much time you've saved me doing it your way instead of my vision of it you'll have some idea of how tickled I am that this is one layer. Thank you so much for the beautiful inspiration!

Julie - wow that is just gorgeous!! And you make it seem so simple too. do you have to do anything to keep the pastels from smearing? I don't have pastels; are they available in the SU catalog? are they chalks? Anyway - thanks for sharing - it is a stunning card.
