OK, I have been working on this in steps ALL DAY!! I started at 7:30 this morning, since the kids did not want to eat right away. Then I went to feed them when they started complaining, and then had an appointment. Came home, had lunch, worked a bit more at it, then went to get my nails done (my nail lady is THE BEST - I can type that cause I know she reads this...hehehe, but really she is!!). I picked up my kids from the babysitter, came home, finished the card, took the pics, edited them, and then left again to deliver a workshop order. Now at 5:14pm, I can let you know what I made, *sigh*.
I really like the criss cross card that I made here, but wanted to see if I could make it without cutting the one side off, just to attach it again. I think I accomplished that!! All products are Stampin' Up!, unless noted otherwise.
I started with a piece of white CS, measuring 5.5 X 8.5 and scored it at 4.25. I then found the center at the top, and then marked it 2 inches down in the center, it looks like this. Click for a better look.
I sponged the front with old olive ink, and then folded it and adhered the two sides together. The reason I like this so much, is that I don't have to try and work with that paper that goes across on the inside. That piece makes it harder to slide in the insert.
I cut my DP the same way, and glued it to the front. I cut a strip of olive CS and sent it through my paper crimper, attaching it with sticky strip. I then used sticky strip to add the bashful ribbon, as well.
I covered a chipboard snowflake from On Board Trimmings with bashful CS, and then schmooshed it in the versamark pad. I covered it with my heat and stick powder, and heated it till it was just barely shiny. I then poured on my dazzling diamonds, and heated it again, to set the glitter.
I used the 1" circle punch to punch the CS to get the reverse side of the DP for under my clear button. I glued it on, and then added the ribbon. I stuck it to the snowflake with a pop-up glue dot. * Side note : People are asking me how I keep my flowers and stuff stuck on with the glue dots. I heat the glue with my heat tool before I add the embellishment. It makes it more like hot glue and I find it sticks WAY BETTER *
I stamped my sentiment (Snowflake Spot) on white with olive and punched it out with the small tag. I stamped snowflakes in bashful (stamped off first), and then sponged the edges in the same color. I matted it on olive that had been punched with the tag punch. I punched the tag with the one hole on the double rectangle punch, and threaded my ribbon through it, attaching it to the back of the snowflake. I then used sticky strip to adhere all of this to the card. I didn't want to tag to move around, so I ended up putting dimensionals underneath it.
For the insert, I just stamped snowflakes on the white CS (stamped off twice this time), and sponged the edges all with bashful. I then punched it with the corner rounder, and matted it to the olive that I had punched, too. I then stamped the sentiment on the bottom (Holidays and Wishes) in olive and staples on the new olive grosgrain. Thanks for stopping in today, have fun and happy stamping!!

Fantastic. I just printed Beate's tutorial from splitcoast and was saying to myself - wow that is a lot of paper - especially just to overlap it. Thanks for taking the time to come up with this method!

You ARE one busy gal and very admired for your ability to get so much stamping done in between all else. And then take the time to explain it all to us. I'm with Suzanne, though, in not understanding. I usually can do it when I see pictures, but it didn't help this time. Your statement "look for the center" clues me in that it's not the score line, so the center must be of one 4¼" side of the score line. That would make sense, but it doesn't fit with the picture which shows one piece of cardstock being cut at the half way mark. Could you clarify this? And add what adhesive you use to keep the edges together? And not get too upset with me? Before I forget, the card is lovely, and your tips on heating the glue dots, heat n' stick for glitter, and using a clear button with dp under it are all appreciated. TFS.

Love this ingenious version of the criss-cross. It doesn't require 12x12 sheet. Brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to explain it all. :0) Mel

Julie, I love this way of doing it -- I see how the criss-cross would make it tougher to get the insert into the card!
Very clever, Grasshopper!
Thanks, too, for sharing your use of the heat tool. I can see why it needs to be out ALL the time, now!

Yep, that's how it goes for me sometimes, too! This is so pretty! I love your chipboard snowflake. Gosh, that's a great tip about heating the glue dots. I love that idea! Thanks!

Great card. This is on my list of layouts for the weekend. I may have to try your way to see if it is easier. Thanks.

Help, please! I must be super dense but I can't figure out how to fold once the white CS is cut and scored. Love the blog and your great ideas. TFS!
