I was commissioned to make the card for my Grandma's 90th birthday. I was only too happy to oblige, since it is a rather special occasion. I had one rule - make sure it's big enough for everyone to sign so this card is 5.5 X 8.5. Well, I also used today's challenge to make the card, since you could only use a number on the front, no words.
All products are Stampin' Up!, unless noted otherwise. I stamped the roses with almost amethyst rocked in vintage violet on white. I masked them of and added leaves (mellow moss, always artichoke), rose buds and flowers. I then sponged the ed in moss and artichoke, before spraying the whole card with Pearl Ex in hairspray. It is sooooo shimmery and I will have a close up later. I added the white organdy and a piece of violet stitched grosgrain, and then I heat curled the organdy. I added the hat pin and beads from my Pretties kit, and then I matted it on amethyst and violet.
MINI TUTORIAL : I do not have number stamps that are big enough for this so I tried something different. I turned to my computer for the answer. I typed the number 90 in, enlarged it to fit on the card, and then printed it in MIRROR image (you adjust this in your printer settings). I then flipped the paper over, and stamped with my versamark pad all over the back of the numbers. I embossed it with gold embossing powder, and then did another layer, since this is thin paper. Then you turn it over again, where you can see the numbers, and cut them out.
I glued them to the amethyst that had been punched with the ticket corner and sponged with violet. I matted it on the ticket punched violet and then added half pearls with glue dots. Man, this card has BLING . I finally added it to the card with dimensionals. I hope she likes it.
So here is a bit better picture of the shimmer and the hat pin. I really like how it really dressed up the card. Don't forget about the WOW factor that pearl ex can bring to a card - it is truly beautiful and especially wonderful on Christmas cards. Have fun and happy stamping!!
This card is SO gorgeous!!!

Gorgeous card Julie... I have a tonne of Pearlex since I can't demo with it anymore, didn't know what to do with it. Love the shimmer idea- I too would like to know the PE to hairspary ratio? Great job on the numbers. What about putting cardstock in the printer to make it thicker?

This card is so gorgeous. After the party I would cut it in half and then have it framed with both the card and all the signatures matted. What a wonderful momento for such an important occasion.
