I had an idea rolling around in my brain for quite some time, but it took the sketch to get it out on paper. The card I made for my nephew yesterday was good, but I have a feeling he will like this one much better!
I even used my High Hopes Stamps to make it. I know you are saying that you have never seen any army stamps in their catalog, but have you seen this cow spots BG? I am so excited that it worked!! I find it hard to think of ways to use stamps outside of the way they were created for, and here's how I did it.
I inked up the spots with different colored markers - always artichoke, mellow moss, close to cocoa, and creamy caramel. I stamped them numerous times on kraft CS, reinking every time. I then sponged the edges in cocoa, and used my color spritzer to add texture with the chocolate chip marker. I then matted this on chocolate CS.
For the next layer, I sponged the moss with artichoke, and stamped the spots with it, as well, but I stamped them off once before putting it on the CS. I matted it on chocolate and then on the base. I added another chocolate panel on top, and used my mat pack to add vintage brads, in the corners and the row on the bottom. I then wrapped the twine around the card, just cause I thought it would look better than ribbon...LOL
I stamped the sentiment from It's Your Day in chocolate in kraft, punched it with the ticket corner, and sponged the edges with cocoa. I matted this on moss that had been punched and sponged with artichoke. I added this to the card with dimensionals. I am quite happy with how it turned out, adn am going to be making a few more of these for the other nephews. This card is perfect for ALL AGES in the male gender, have fun and happy stamping!!
You are genious! My boys are all about the camo. I'm off to get this stamp!

What a great idea - you would never know that those spots were not combat fatigue spots. Very clever. TFS

Amazing idea for the background- I didn't even recognize the stamp until you told us which one it was!

I love this card. I have a brother in the AF and I think this would be great for sending to him. I think that is even the AF cami colors. I may have to get this set to do it.

Julie,
You really are thinking of new ways. I live next to Ft. Hood, and would have never thought to do this. I come from a long line of military...Uncles, Dad, brother, husband...you name it..lol
Great idea thinking outside the cow spots to make them look cameoflauge!!! Have a great afternoon. Chris
