It has been a long time since I have done an inspiration challenge, but Saturday's here are usually busy to the max. Today, though, I needed to sit own and stamp, so I checked the IC forum. Here is what I saw. You can click on the picture for a larger version.
I said to myself - "HOKEY FREAKIN' DINAH", and then I realized that this as going to be work. I went to my patterned paper to see what I could come up with and went from there with my card. Now my card looks nothing like the thumbnail, but I went with elements and pattern rather than colors and design.
Isn't it sweet ?!? I found the polka dot paper (K & Company - Costco), and went from there. I stamped these adorable penguins from High Hopes Rubber Stamps in basic black on white. I colored them in with my Stampin' Up! markers, and watercolor pencils.
For the tops of the toques (hats) and the earmuffs, I used my Tulip puffy paint, since it comes in 6 colors at WalMart. I added some "ice" with my black marker, shadowed it with my bashful blue marker, and used the aqua painter to spread some blue on the white for an icier look. I used dazzling diamonds to bring sparkle to the surface, and used my silver gel pen to color the blades on the skates and toboggan (sled). I matted this on tempting turquoise and went on to the next layer.
I stamped the flower with the dotted border from True Friend on pretty in pink CS with the same ink, and sponged the edges too. It didn't look filled in enough for me, so I added the dots from the Snowflake Spot. I matted this on turquoise and then on the base of turquoise and the aforementioned DP. I added some turquoise ribbon (from one of Jody's shares), and added the image with dimensionals.
I punched barely banana CS with the scalloped circle and punched each scallop with the 1/16 punch. I stamped the dot border from Think Happy Thoughts in pink on white and the Snow Sweet sentiment was inked separately with the turquoise marker and stamped on the same CS. I punched the white with the 1 1/4 circle and the turquoise with the 3/4 circle punch. I then matted them altogether and added them to the card. I finally added the three brads on the side, using the mat pack for placement.
I kinda like these non-traditional colors for a winter scene, makes winter more cheerful...LOL. Thanks for peeking in on me, and look for another video in the next day or so. Have fun and happy stamping!!
I'm totally loving all of the High Hopes stamps you've been using as they're just SO adorable! And the puffy paint on their earmuffs and hat are too much! I LOVE it!! Another total smile card Ü! Thanks for sharing!
