School Lunch Scraps

When I get new stamps, I always forget about the old!  So, I decided to play with one of the first CC Designs sets that I got, Donald Goes To School, and make a lunch bag scrapbook.  This will be nice to hold the pictures of the kids in class, and also things that they made can be put in the pockets.  I kinda thought it appropriate to make a school scrapbook out of school lunch sacks.

I covered one side in every page with Basic Grey Mellow, or Piggy Tales Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater DP.  These two lines look like they were made for each other, but if you want the Basic Grey 12 X 12, better hurry, they are on sale at All That Scraps.  I also used some American Crafts Ribbon from Studio C and some May Arts Grosgrain.

I stamped Donald onto the solid side of the Piggy Tales DP, and then proceeded to stamp him out 4 more times onto various other papers.  I cut him out and pieced him together.  I stamped the backpack, colored and cut it out, and then added it on a dimensional.  I punched some DP with the large oval and added 3 mustard brads to it.  I stamped the sentiment in artichoke on top, and wrote the dates on the bottom with the same marker.  All through the book, the other images from the set are stamped, but I have added no embellies yet.  That will get done when the pictures are added.  It was fun to pull out this set, and prepare a mini scrapbook, just cause.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Sketchy Flower

The sketch today was a good one for me.  I bought the Pretties Kit on my catalog preorder and have used maybe 4 flowers.  I really like them, I just like hoarding them - anyone else with that problem out there??  Really, I thought I was alone in that...LOL.  So the sketch called for a flower, and I went right to the box, and pulled out the biggest one.

I also really like this color combo, elegant eggplant, old olive and soft sky.  There is absolutely no stamping on this card, so it only took me about 1/2 hour to figure out what to do and get it done.  Keep in mind, it was 3:30am.  Wanna know why??

W-E-L-L...hubby got up to go to the washroom, and TURNED ON THE LIGHT!  Then he says to me, you might as well go sleep on the couch,  could be awhile.  I'll forgive him, cause he is not feeling well, AND he gave me free reign to go stamp...at 3:30 in the morning...hehehe.  I digress, back to the card.

The base is olive and eggplant, the eggplant sponged with basic grey for a little depth.  I then added the olive and Print DP in sky for the middle panel.  Then across the card was more olive and eggplant (sounds like a meal......LOL), and on this I used a sentiment from the Eastern Elegance rub-ons.  I added the one flower, but it seemed a bit weak, so I used a white Bazzill Bitty Blossom for the center, that I colored with my eggplant marker.  I used the bling from the kit to add to the center of the flower and the edges of the panel.  It didn't look quite finished to me, so I added the white gel pen dots around the edge of the eggplant layer.  Thanks to Faith, for that inspiration.  I then took the photo in my new tent, and since I am as lazy as I am, I just put black poster board down, so I didn't have to iron the backdrop...BWAHAHAHA!  I am also doing a video tutorial for the rub-ons, so keep watching for that.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

 

You know it's cold when...

Yes, that is ice on the inside of the windows in our kitchen.  Pretty much every window has this, since it is SO BLINKIN' COLD!!  I saw the snow day pictures on some blogs yesterday, and I kinda had to giggle.  That is about how much we get on the first snowfall, and we are wondering *if* we saw some white stuff...LOL.

Right now, as I am typing this it is -57C with the wind chill (that is -70.6F).  YES, you read that right.  I did a little research on what would happen if you were to go outside in these temperatures.  Whatever skin you have exposed will have frostbite within minutes AND you can even get frostbite in your LUNGS.  Your body just can't warm up the air fast enough when you are breathing, so it can actually be quite dangerous.  I got a phone call from the school here this morning, and kids were still coming in for classes, my nephews being 2 of them.  Yep, we just keep moving up here...hehehe.

My door to go outside is completely frozen shut, so I have to go through my garage to go anywhere.  And to think, we are going to be in this deep freeze till Friday.  So, heat up that kettle and have a cuppa with me.   

It's Here, It's Here !!!!

And this sucker is !!!  I had bought a 24" tent off of ebay (YescomUSA), and there was a mix-up.  Turned out there was none left, or something, so they asked if they could send me the bigger one, and no extra charge - ummm, let me think ...SURE!!  And shipping was super fast - about a week to get this to me in Canada.  So this is a 32", and HOKEY FREAKIN' DINAH, it is massive, my kids can fit in there and they are 3 and 4.  Don't believe me ?!?

Awww, adorable aren't they?  Now, I just need to photoshop the last picture!

Like the New Look ??

I was playing for quite awhile to get this right.  I like the look of this, and I hope you do to!!  I used Flergs Strawberry Mini Kit to make my new banner, and though I'm not much of a pink person, this will do till I can design something I really LOVE!  Let me know what you think, thanks.

Box - NOW WITH LID...LOL

Yep, when I made my mini purse as a box the other day, I thought, "Hey, it could use a lid!!".  So, I made one and here is the template.

The is just a tad bigger all around, so you should have no problems sliding it over the box.  Here is the one I made.

I used a sheet of Basic Grey DP, Mellow, from All That Scraps.  I made my lid with the same paper, and then I wrapped the 5/8 olive ribbon around it and added the bow.  To make my bow, I used my BowMaker from theCardLadies.com, and put it on with a pop-up glue dot.  I heated it with my heat tool first, so it would stick better.  I punched some old olive CS with the scallop circle, and then punched each scallop with the 1/16 punch.  I stamped a letter to monogram it in olive on shimmery white and punched it out with the 1 3/8 circle punch.  I then used my olive marker to dot around the edge. 

Oh, you don't see the letter?!?  That's cause this set is a gift, and if I left her initial on it, she would know who it was for!!

I made the mini gift cards from watercolor paper, and stamped with various High Hopes images.  They are : Wagon Full Of Blessings, Tea Angels, Posey's For Ewe,  Penguin Family Fun, Overwhelming Love, and Wingin' It Duck.  I colored them all with my NCNP Technique.  I really hope she likes them, and now they are off to the post office.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Guest Designer Card

Back in July, I was asked to be a guest designer for iheart2stamp.com, and I was ecstatic!!  This was my first designing gig, and I was so honored to be asked by some one I considered a stamping legend.  I mean, by gosh, she was a Dirty Girl, and asked little ole me to make a few cards for her site.  Here is one of them, that I made, and was one of my ALL-TIME Favorite guy cards, EVAH, really, I'm serious, not kidding, honestly, for real...OK, I'm done, no really...LOL

This is another retired set, that I will NEVER give up(Angler - SU).  Pretty much all the guys on both sides of the families LOVE to fish, some a little too much.  Yes, Monty and Scott, I'm talking to you.  But hey, I stamp more than they fish, so what can I say...ROFL!

I stamped the men on the boat with brown stazon on very vanilla, and watercolored them with re-inkers and my aqua painter (I'd have to say this is one of the most used tools in my craft room!!).  I sponged it with creamy caramel, and matted it on river rock and blue bayou.  All sponging on this card was done with caramel.

The base is bayou, and then I added river that had been distressed with my cutter kit (love that little tool).  I stamped the flannel BG in caramel on the same CS, and then distressed those edges, too.  I added a layer of bayou underneath, that had been pierced using my mat pack for keeping it straight.  This was added to the base, and I embossed the sentiment with classy copper embossing powder.

I stamped the fish on vanilla, colored them and cut them out.  I punched a hole through them with the 1/16 punch and threaded them onto a piece of linen thread.  I attached them to the card with a antique copper brad (Making Memories), and then added some beside the sentiment.  Even with all the fishermen in my family, I cannot bear to give out this card...LOL.  Hope you enjoyed my trip down card memory lane, have fun and happy stamping!!

Mini Purse Tutorial

I had to make a new purse for this tutorial, since I didn't take pictures of the put-together for the last one.  The LSC (Limited Supplies Challenge) was also to use scraps, so YAY, I made another card set.  Here is what I came up with.

I used up scraps from my Baroque DP, and all the punched and stamped pieces were from scraps (Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, River Rock).  For the box, and the actual cards themselves, I had to cut pieces.

I used the SAB set, Lots Of Thoughts, to make this set up.  I inked each one with olive and chocolate, stamped them on river.  I punched them with the 1 3/8 square and then rubbed the edges on the chocolate chip pad.  I matted it on olive that had been punched with the ticket corner.  This was then put on chocolate that was punched with the giga scalloped square.  I then added some of the 3D fabric paint to the corners.

For the bases, I used pieces of river rock that measured 5.5 X 4.25 and then folded them in half.  My card size is 2.75 X 4.25, and I added a 2 X 4.25 piece of DP on the bottom.  I used my mat pack to pierce a line across the top of each and then added my punched layers.  Took about 45 mins to do all these cards.

Now for the mini purse, But I made a box instead, using the same template (That's HERE).  Here is how you put it together.

Here is the template all scored and cut.  I have my sticky strip on 4 of the six flaps, two in the middle and two on the right side. 

You need to peel the middle ones first.  Now the first flap that you stick on MUST HAVE the sticky strip on it, otherwise you have nothing to stick the next flap to.  Do this on both sides.

Now, you peel the side one, and fold the other flap over to stick on it.  That was easy and you are done!  It is up to you, now, how you want  to embellish it.  I just used some of the chocolate satin ribbon to wrap around the whole top, and then added a  bow, like Nichole showed on her blog (scroll down to the bottom).  I also have the template for the larger version of this  HERE, and you put it together the same way.  This one fits the full sized cards.  Have fun and happy stamping!!
