I needed to start using my scraps - the heap was becoming overwhelming. I was not helping either, instead of searching through it, I would just cut another piece. Today, I made a card set and a mini purse ENTIRELY from my scrap pile. I have a template, so you can make the purse, as well.
All of these cards were made with white card fronts measuring 5.5 X 4.25. I folded them in half to measure 2.75 X 4.25. I added a 2 X 4.25 inch strip of DP and then a .5 X 4.25 inch strip of contrasting CS. This piece was embossed with the crop-a-dile, using this TUTORIAL.
I used one of the new Sale-A-Bration sets, So Many Scallops, for each of the cards. The only difference is on the two Christmas ones, I used a 3D white shimmer fabric paint for my mini pearls in the scallops. I think it is so pretty, and I got it from Michaels. It is probably the same thing as Liquid Pearls (available from All That Scraps).
Now, this would not have been my first choice in DP for the purse, but it was the biggest in my scrap box. Since I was only using scraps, I had to go with it.
**YAY FOR ME - I did use printer paper instead of CS to figure out the template!! Of course, I got it right the first time, isn't that how it always works??**
Here is the template for you in this new size.
Your CS for the purse needs to be 7 X 8. Along the 8 inch side you will score at 3 and 5. On the 7 inch side, you will score 1 1/4 inches in ON EACH SIDE. Cut on the solid lines, up to the score marks and then, to put it together. I added some 5/8 olive grosgrain, and the accent pieces in regal rose. I faux stitched them all, adding some olive brads, just like hardware on a real purse. If I get enough questions, I can also post pictures of how to put the purse together. Have fun and happy stamping!!
Thanks so much for the free template! Most people would charge money for something that cute. :)

Love this. You wouldn't happen to have a pattern for one that fits the cards that are 4.25x 5.50 do ya? I have been looking all day for a template for that.

Just wondering how you keep your cropadile dots so straight when you use it to emboss? I haven't used mine much but I seem to struggle when I play with it! On the scrap situation....I don't have any trouble using my scraps, I guess I am such a paper hoarder that I always look thru my scraps first before going to a fresh piece! I have all my cardstock in hanging folders. Each color has it's own hanging folder as well as a manilla jacket/folder that holds the scraps.

Wow this little purse is adorable. I make this size cards and use my scraps all the time. Now I need to make a litte note purse to go with them. Thanks so much for sharing. You should get a sharing award for being so generous and saving us all the work. Hope you have a great day! :)

I'm glad to hear that I'm am not the only one stuggling with scraps. I've been trying really hard lately to use them. Just when I get my pile down, I buy more DP.
I LOVE those cards Julie! You rock! Makes me want to buy the scallop punch and get that SAB set!
Thanks for the inspiration.

Isn't it nice to use up your scraps? You have inspired me to do more of this! I also wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog! I have been visiting it since you posted a hat pin tutorial in a thread on SCS. This is my first post to you, but I have been enjoying your site for quite some time. Keep up the excellent work!

I luv it! The fact that its all scraps is awesome!!! When I clicked on the template, there was nothing but black & a tiny x, maybe typepad is having a problem, I'll try again tonight. Please do a tutorial so I can print it out to do at a later date. Thanks Julie

I really need to go through my scrap pile. I am really good about keeping my cardstock scraps down, but I'm terrible with dsp. Thanks for the idea! I'm going to make it a priority this week.
