This is the card I made for the color challenge today, on SCS. The colors were real red, soft sky and blue bayou. To me, it seemed a rather retro combination, so I kept the design rather clean.
I stamped the image from the new Spring Song (Stampin' Up!) on watercolor paper with stazon. I colored it with inks from the pad lids, and then matted it on the bayou.
For the base, I used bayou and sky, and added a layer of Cherise DP (retired). To hide the seam, I tied the 5/8 red grosgrain over top, and then added the image panel with dimensionals. I used the mat pack to mark out the spots for my red brads.
The bottom of the image looked a little bare to me, so I stamped the word with my 1/4 letter stamps that I got at my local Dollorama in bayou on sky. I punched it out with the small oval and the bayou with the large oval, adding brads to finish it off. I adhered it to the image panel, so it would look like it was on dimensionals, as well. This will be going to my MIL, since my FIL is moving into a home on Wednesday. It is necessary, and good, but I'm sure she will miss her life mate a lot. Have fun and happy stamping!!
This is my first time posting a coment here. I can't remember how I found your blog but I'm so glad I did.
This is a beautiful card! I;m sure your MIL will love it.
I have a question, where do you get the watercolor paper? at a regular craft store or thru Stampin' UP! ?
Thanks
Tere A.

Hi Julie,
I think this may be my first post to your blog but I felt compelled to write. I speak from experience when I say your MIL will need a lot of TLC when her dear husband enters the nursing home. Soon it will be 2 years since my dad entered a nursing home and it was a difficult transition for everyone but it was much harder for my Mom. My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Best of luck. Your card is lovely & I enjoy visiting your blog on a daily basis.
