Awwww, don'cha just want to make one like this?? I love these new stamps from CC Designs, (I got mine Tuesday), and I knew what I wanted to do with them immediately. I stamped the birds from Love Ya Much on watercolor paper with black stazon, and used my No Copics, No Problem Tutorial to color them in. I punched them out with the mega oval punch, and used dimensionals to attach it to the giga scalloped oval - Tutorial HERE (or Video) if you don't have this punch. I dotted the scallops with the white gel pen, and used sticky strip to add this to the front of the holder. This will keep the ribbon in place, so it is not falling off when you untie it. I added the Bazzill flower and the American Crafts Foam Flower ( Both from All That Scraps) with a pink brad. Ready ? Well, let's get to 'er.
- 1 piece CS measuring 7 7/8 X 3 3/4
- 1 piece ribbon, 20 inches long
- scoring tool
- extra paper for embellishing front
- stamp (mine are the new CC Designs stamps)
- pen
- post-it notes
Click on template for a larger view. You need to score your paper at 3 3/4, 4 1/8, and 4 1/2. This is going to be the area where the pen is going to be held.
The two cut lines on the template are what I am showing here. Fold it ONLY on the middle score line, and cut the two cuts. This will be where the pen will fit in.
Then you need to fold the other 2 score lines the opposite way, so you will end up with a little mountain.
The part in the middle, that is cut out, needs to be pushed outward. You will end up with the picture on the right. You put sticky strip on the two outside pieces. * IMPORTANT - Make sure this is on the 3 3/4 side, or your post-it pad will not fit inside. A bit more explaining HERE*
You push the two sides down, and this will give you you the inside edge to glue you post-it note pad down onto. I used sticky strip to hold my pad down, and took off the back page, to make sure it would stick. Now, you need to attach your ribbon over the holder, and this will be what holds it closed, as shown in the first picture.
Oh, by the way, the sentiment was made using a $1 alphabet set from my Dollorama!! YEP - the whole alphabet, wood mounted for $1. They are a nice font, not too casual, and are about 1/4 inch each. So, same size as the snap stamp, but a WHOLE LOT CHEAPER!!
P.S. - I drew the bow on the head of one bird to make her a girl!
Julie,
I wanted to thank you for this tutorial. I made about 30 of these up for neighbor and work gifts. Everyone loved them. If I can get my computer working I will upload the pictures on splitcoast.
Again thanks for sharing!!!

Thanks for another great idea! I am making one now and I thought the same thing as Giovana -- that the back ends up longer than the front. For me here in the US, using a post-it pad that is 2 7/8 inches square, I just flipped the whole thing over and adhered the post-it pad to the 3 1/2 inch side and it was perfectly centered and even.

What a great tutorial! I just love easy to follow things like this that I might actually be able to try myself!
Great find on the rubber stamps too. There are a ton of those type of stores around my area and sometimes they have great scrapbook items for a buck.

cute image Julie! I love the post it note holder. Your No copics NO problem saved me hundreds of dollars and several months of agonizing. I already have hundreds or maybe thousands of dollars worth of markers here that I can use. The paper does make a difference. You're brilliant!

Thanks so much for the tutorial. In this minute I am trying it. I have a question, the bottom cardstock ends bigger than the top? Maybe I did something wrong.
Thanks so much
