I hope that you all have some fun making this little gift bag!
Here are the measurements. You need a piece of CS or DP 5 3/8 X 11. You will also need 2 pieces of white CS measuring 2 X 3. This is for the bottom of the bag. I used sticky strip to make sure it all stuck together, (2) 8 inch pieces of ribbon for the handles, and a 1/8 circle punch.
I used my Scor-Pal to do the scoring, since I knew that I wouldn't have to move it around. You can get one HERE.
Now on the longest side, you need to do the majority of the scoring. You will score at 1,2,5,6,7,and 10. Now you can turn it the short way, and score it at 1 and 5. Now starts the folding.
Do all the folding like this, making sure for the last picture that yours will look the same. You realy need the center to be a mountain on what will be the inside of the bag.
Now, you will punch two holes in each of the largest areas on the narrowest scored side. Use both pictures as a guide, and then add the sticky strip. You need to put it in the 2 areas that will be the front and back of the bag. Then fold it down, putting it down the side, but only to the score line on the bottom.
Now this is why you want the flap on the top. You insert your ribbon through the holes. I cut mine on a deep diagonal, so it is easier to thread it through. Then, just before I stick it down, I cut it straight to the end of the sticky strip. Your flap will be 1/8 of and inch bigger than the sticky strip. This way, when you press it all down, you will never see the ends of the ribbon, so it looks more finished off! Use a bone folder to go over the paper to make sure it will stay down.
Now it is time to put it all together.
Fold your edges that are going to come together, on the score line. I make my folds really sharp, since it seems to make the edges lines up better.
Take the liner off the sticky strip, and then put the free end into the fold, as shown. When you have it all lined up, then you can press it together. Use the bone folder again, to make sure the fold is not going to come apart.
Now it is time to start the bottom.
I added just a spot of sticky strip to the bottom. The reason I did not go all the way, is 1) I'm cheap, and 2), it makes folding the bottom in a lot easier! So know you fold the two "sides" down, and the front and back will go on a diagonal fold. I didn't prescore this, since I find it easier to line up, if I don't.
Fold over the two flaps, noting that they do not over lap. This is perfectly fine, since we are going to add an insert and bottom. The one that goes on the inside only need the one piece of sticky strip. Push it down in the inside, making sure to run the bone folder along it to really press it down.
Now add the final piece to the bottom. This gives the bag a really finished off look. Now all you have to do is decorate!!
You can see what I did with the bag HERE.
Have fun and happy stamping!!
That’s genius! Never again will I be stuck for a gift bag. So easy, even I can manage it. Thank you.
