Right at this point, I should be in Edmonton, enjoying a wonderful stamping meeting with my upline, and all the sidelines. I should be sitting in the front row with Gail, soaking up the information, and then going out with Peggy for supper. But, I'm not.
I got some devastating news on Thursday, and wanted to stay behind to lend support.
Our pastor's daughter-in-law found out she has cancer, and the doctors are not offering any hope. She is 27, wife and mother to 2 children, ages 2 and 6. I just find this so heartbreaking for the entire family, and I wanted to let them all know that they are being thought of and prayed for.
I wanted something that was beautiful, classic and fast to reproduce. I saw a gorgeous card by JulieHRR, and I figured I could easily recreate it for myself.
I stamped the line of trees from Lovely As A Tree (SU)with chocolate chip ink on kraft CS. The sentiment came from a GinaK set, Comfort and Peace. I find this set to have the perfect sentiment's for times when you just don't know what to say. On the inside, I used a Bible verse from Flowers For Daisy, also from GinaK. These were both stamped with chocolate chip, as well. The leaves in the trees were made with the fern stamp from watercolor minis (retired SU) in summer sun, pumpkin pie and old olive. I then used my aqua painter to wash on some olive ink, just enough to give the feel of a crisp fall scene.
I experimented with ribbon and scoring, but both seemed to take away from the feel of the card.
I was wondering how many would be willing to send the families some cards? If there is a few of you, I will post a "care of" address for the family. Thanks in advance to those that are willing to do this.
I'll mail a card out too!
This is a lovely gesture you've come up with and I too will send a prayer up for her and the family.

While I cannot help out at this time, i can tell you as a parent of a child that is going through treatment, that ANY card, kind word, email is appreciated. Just knowing they are loved, thought about and cared for makes a world of difference!

Julie, as you know we serve a mighty God...so when the doctors say there is little hope, then we will just petition our God to do a mighty work and heal your pastor's daughter -in-law, all for the Glory of God. I will also like to send a card. Thanks for asking for the prayers.
Blessings,
Julie

As my Mother would say "God damn cancer" She died 18 months ago of it and my Dad just died of it on the 26th of August. So I do wish He would. Although my Dad got saved days before he died which was an answer to prayer.
I will be praying for this family as they travel this path. I know that prayer does make these journeys easier.

Please post the C/O address for your pastor's daughter-in-law. I am also in my twenties and was diagnosed a few years ago with cancer, so I would like to share with her some encouragement that I found to be helpful.

Julie - Please send me the c/o address and I will glady send a card. I feel so bad for them. My sister-in-law's best friend was just diagnosed with breast cancer which is horrid but she is 20 yrs. older than your pastor's daughter-in-law; not that that is any better but at least she has nearly seen her boys grow up and hopefully, will with treatment will have many years ahead of her. This is just such a terrible disease and with all the money spent and research being done, I just don't know why they can't find a cure. My father is very cynical and says that they don't want to find a cure because so many people would be out of work but I find that hard to believe. I certainly want to send my good wishes to the family if you will please send me the address I will make something up tomorrow. How thoughtful of you to give up your fun weekend to stay home and lend your support. I will remember them in my prayers.

I would be honored to send them a card and of course keep them in my prayers. This is the "least" we can do. May the Lord Bless Then and Keep them.

I, like you, hate the "C" word. This disease has devistated my family as well as far too many of my friends. Although we do not understand why these things happen to our loved ones, the Lord does see us through. Please allow me to send a card. Hugs, Kelly

My thoughts and prayers go out to this young family. I can't imagine the emotions this stirring up. Poor things! I would be willing to mail a card and include a Bible verse in it. I am sure that is where their strength lies and the Lord will get them through this. Just let me know where to mail it.
