With a outcry for help(75 comments plus emails), I put together a tutorial last night - YAY! Let's get started, shall we?
You will need an envelope, cardstock, glue and 2 circle punches that are consecutive sizes. My envelope size is 3⅝ X 6 ½ - my CS is cut to this size. You can use any size envelope, just make sure to cut the CS to the same size. My punches are 1¼, and 1⅜.
You will also need CS / patterned paper for decorating, as well as the embellishments, stamps, etc. Whatever you have to make it all purty will be perfect!
Add your glue to the FLAP ONLY of the envelope, and attach it to the front of the CS. TA-DA, you have now made the base of you card...hehehe. Now for the inside.
Whatever the size of your envelope, your mat for the inside should be 1/4 in smaller. My mat is the riding hood red, and is 6 1/4 X 3 3/8. Center your 1 1/4 circle punch on it, but only punch half way in. Then add glue on the BOTTOM of the mat. This will be for the patterned paper of your choice. Attach the two together now - remember, only glue the bottom for now!
Now, holding your two layers as shown in the first picture, position the bigger punch (1 3/8) on the patterned paper and punch it out. Make sure it is centered before you glue your layers together.
Now, you need to add the glue to the envelope on the inside of the card, staying far enough away from the edges. If you add it to the edges of the CS, you will glue shut the area for the cash to go into. Now adhere the CS into the envelope and you are done. Check back for the finished card and another sneak peak of the newest Glam Girls III from CC Designs (All That Scraps). If you make this card-a-lope, please link it to here, so others can get the tutorial as well. Then link your finished creation in the comments, so I can create a post with all the finished ones!
Great idea using an envelope to start! Thanks for sharing the idea with us, it works great as a gift certificate holder. Here is my creation: http://fromwhereistamp.blogspot.com/2008/11/happy-birthday-to-my-brother.html
