I was playing around with Amy's Build A Holiday set, and thought of a really neat idea. Turns out Cathy had the same thoughts here. I went with a Christmas theme, though, and I think it turned out really cool!
The hats were turned upside down to become the pots for my topiary trees. The base was ruby red, and then I matted on some DP from the Cosmo Cricket Wonderland pack. I then stamped the stem, and then the 2 smaller circles on the DP. I then stamped the circles again on the Basic Grey Wassail Pack DP. I punched them out with the 1 and 1 1/4 inch circles ~ they fit perfectly~ and then added them to the card with dimensionals. I colored the white on the edge of the circles with the white gel pen, and stippled the Liquid Applique on the "ground" to make it more realistic.
Now, the sentiment is from Amy's Christmas Sentiments, but it does not come curved like that ... hmmmmm. I wanted it to look like I had hung a banner, though, and so I set forth (yes, I know it sounds corny) to figure it out.
Did you know that you can curve unmounted rubber, too? I punched a circle with my 1 3/4 punch in scrap paper. I then laid my block on top, and curved the rubber in the shape underneath. I then stamped it and cut it out! I added the gold cord to look like it was hanging from the trees.
After everything was done, I added Stardust Stickles to the berries on the trees, like frost on them. On the close up here, you can also see how the snow turned out that I stippled on.
On the inside of the card, I stamped a verse from the Christmas Versesset. You can buy all these sets separately, or save when you buy them all together. There are so many shapes in the set, that you have an unlimited amount of things you can create! Have fun and happy stamping!!
Cute Idea Julie. You are so creative!!
