Crystal Effects (CE) is sometimes a hard medium to work with. Hard as in, what to do with it. Well, the ladies in my class wanted to work with it for awhile, and the first technique I taught them was CE icicles. I made a tutorial for them, and you too!
First off, you are going to need CE, wax paper, dazzling diamonds, and a craft knife. You make a line with CE on the wax paper, keep it thin. Then add more CE "dripping" down from the original line, longer and shorter.
Then you sprinkle the dazzling diamonds all over the CE. It doesn't matter if you go overboard, you can always get it back into the container after it has dried. You will need to let this set. I made mine the night before I was going to use them, so mine had about 20 hours o drying time, but overnight should be good. Then you need to carefully peel it off the wax paper, I used a craft knife to keep it going smoothly.
What a great Christmas card, hey?? I used "To You and Yours" stamp set, and for paper, the SAB Delicate dots DP, Prints DP, black and white CS. I added more dazzling diamonds onto the snowy roof of the house that was stamped in bashful blue.
The sentiment layer consist of the designer label, the large oval and the word window punches. The last one is up on dimensionals. If you buy all the products I have linked to my online store, you will have spent over $60 and can get the Delicate Dots DP for FREE. You can also get a FREE hard copy catalog with your online order, so hurry and get yours today!!
The picture of the card does absolutely NO justice to how shimmery those icicles are. You can click on this picture for a better view. The finished product is pretty flexible. I just glued mine to the card with my Tombow glue, just along the main line.
Hope this encurages you to pull out your Crystal Effects and get a head start on your Christmas card stash! Have fun and happy stamping!!
THUD! WAY COOL! My CE just sits there begging to be used. Now I need to see what stamps I have to use for Christmas cards that icicles would look good with. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love the icicles, but don't understand why you didn't "make" them directly on the cardstock to begin with?

Terrific use of Crystal Effects! But...an early start on Christmas cards??? I had to look to see if an old blog had shown up! Of course, if we were all smart we would start now, but for some reason I'm not in the right frame of mind for that. TFS...I really enjoy your treats and info every day and your generosity in sharing all of it.

I saw WOW too. I never would have thought of that. I will try it tomorrow. I expect some troube to get it off the wax paper. DO you think?

That looks so cool! I actually have both products so I can go play! That for what seems to be a fairly easy idea. Of course maybe getting the stuff off the wax paper is the challenge. Anyway, it looks really fun. Thanks!!!!
