If I can put together a card with colors that I cannot, in real life, picture them that way, then I decided to challenge y'all to do it, too! I showed the card at my last class, and some LOVED it and some not so much. Now you can let me know what you think!
Rose Red, Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip sounds way outta this world to me, but since Stampin' Up! put them all one one design in their Sweet Pea DSP, it must work. So, I went to town and created this card. The edges of all the paper was dragged through the chocolate ink pad, and I added some of the new Sweet Pea felt flowers that are in the new mini catty. The sentiment is also in there and the font on this set is GORGEOUS!!
JCC27 - Julie's Color Concoctions
- rose red
- pumpkin pie
- chocolate chip
So, play along and see what you can do! Use JCC27 on your uploads to SCS, or link back here to my blog. Then next Sunday, I'll add them to the post, so everyone can see your great work! Let's see how many we can get, have fun and happy stamping!!
Hey Julie, I already commented on this card once, but had to come back again to say thanks for the inspiration. I CASED your flower on this card. What a great idea! Thanks again for sharing!

Wouldn't think of putting those colours together but they actually work. everyone has always said to stamp your images in the same colour of your paper but i like the way the chocolate chip looks on the pumpkin pie paper. it really stands out. you have inspired me to try other colours of ink with different papers.....thank you

I actually love the "out of the norm" color combos like this one. I will have to see if I can put something together with these. Great card!

I love the color combo....actually when I first came here the first thing I saw before your title or posting with the card and I was like wow, I like that color combo...then found out that was what your post was about...lol
Great card too.

I feel you did a fantastic job with the design and colors...I had to come back a couple of times to look at the color combination. I just wasn't too sure but you know what after a bit I am really starting to like it. Great job!

Here in Australia that colour combination is very popular! I love it!

You did a great job with jarring elements! I know nature uses colors from the cool spectrum along with the warm spectrum all the time, but I am never very fond of mixing them; I try to stay with all cool or all warm, and then my heart is happy. but doing otherwise is what creates ART! So go for it!.

I'm liking the colors together. I think the orange "pops" the rose. Good Job!!

If asked I would have said no, but seeing it I quite like it. Good job Julie

Well I'm "on the fence" about the color combo. It seems to go okay but the pumpkin is a bit out of the norm for the Rose color. I do however think this card is really nice.

Julie, this is an awesome combination. I am part of a yahoo group called VC Rocks! It runs from spring until a week or so after convention and is a celebration of Stampin' Up! This is an awesome group of stampers, both demos and non and we have swaps, classes, a virtual hotel, lots of fun things to be involved in. Anyway, a couple of years ago, I found this combo of rose red and pumpkin pie and used it on tons of swaps, and of course, EVERYTHING goes with Chocolate Chip, lol. Love this card and your wonderful blog.
If you are by any chance interested in joining our little group, let me know and I can send you an invite when we open back up in the spring.
thanks for sharing,.

For those in doubt, "Chocolate goes with everything" :) I experimented with that at Christmas time, and yep, it's true. :)
In the case of this card, I do actually like this color combo. It's young and fun, I can totally see those colors on a teenager's hoodie in some scroll-y pattern or a plaid. Way to be with stepping outside the box. You are awesome.

I love this color combo! Sweet Always is one of my absolute fave SU DSPs. I was sad when it retired. Such fun, bright colors!

This is actually one of my favorite combos. I also like pink, orange, and blue together, too!

I use similar combos all the time! And I LOVE the felt flowers - have been drooling since I saw them in the catalogue.

Good morning, Julie, Wellllll-I like the style of the card, but not the colors. Sorry.

I really like your card. I don't think that I would use this combo very much, but it is nice on your card.
Posted by: JoAnn Burnham | January 08, 2010 at 09:26 AM
It turned out really nice, but not sure if it be a color combo I would use.

The pink and orange remind me too much of Dora the Explorer...I have too much of that going on in my house as is. Neat color challenge, though.

I wouldn't have ever considered using those colors together; but the more I look at it, the better I like it. Need to get out of my comfort zone more! Love the layout. To be CASE'd for sure. Like the new font too.

Hmmmm I'll have to think about this one. I love pink and chocolate together, but the pumpkin causes a little concern. I do really like the design you used for the card, though. I'll plan to use this one for sure. And those felt flowers look really swell. I want to see them IRL for sure.
