Inspired Wedding

So, here is another way to get your mojo going.  Look in a magazine, online, book, anywhere you can find some awesome pictures, and go from that.

  Being stuck on wedding things right now, I was looking at some amazing wedding cakes.  I found this one, and I loved the elegance of it.  The damask is perfect and the pop of the red is just perfect. 

There are so many more wedding cakes to check out.  Just follow this Google Wedding Cake Link for some inspiration.  Then make your self a card!!  Here is mine :

I went a bit over the top for this one, and used Hot-Sexy-Pink (Melon Mambo - #115320) instead of the red.  This card is entirely Stampin' Up!, except for the black rhinestones and mini pearls.  I used the damask stamp in Friends 24-7 (#113218) and the only other stamp is the sentiment from Oval All (#113790) and that was punched out with the Curly Label (#112208).  The small flowers are from the Trio Flower Punch (#109183) and the larger flowers are from the Island Floral Die (#118871) fro the new Summer Mini.  The flower centers are made with the 1/2 circle punch(#104390) and half pearls from the Pretties kit(#109114).  I used the white satin(#114616) to tie around the "cake".  You could easily change out the colors to match the occasion.

Start Simple !

When I lose my mojo, I like to start simple.  Don't try a comlicated and over the top project ~ start with something you can build on.  That is my tip of the millenium ... hehehe.  So, here is my card using the latest Clean and Simple Sketch.

Though I did move my flower more to the side ~ I wanted a sentiment on it ~ I liked the square card idea.  I used the Island Oasis DSP (#117173) from the Summer Mini with tempting turquoise and white CS.  The flower was made using my tutorial here, and I used the ribbon ends as my greenery.  I pierced under the ribbon and added my sentiment in old olive.  This is a super simple card, but the DSP takes it to over-the-top-fabulous!!  Even with the making of the flower, this card took me no more than 10 minutes to complete.  I feel good, because I have stamped, and feel like I can keep going.  Why don't you try out my tip and link below ?!?  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

Leggo My Mojo

I am finishing up my Tri-Shutter Album Tutorial, and am just figuring out the pictures to print.  After all of that stamping for the invites, though, my mojo and motivation for stamping seems to have taken a holiday ~ AHHH !  I truly NEED to stamp, that is my stress relief and my wind down at the end of the day.  Anyone else get like that ?!?  What do you do to get over the hump?

Skewer Tutorial

This tutorial doesn't have much in the way of crafting, but a ton in the way of creating a new way to eat!! My kids LOVE fruit, but I still wanted a way to keep them excited about eating it. I got this idea from the skewers of veggies that we BBQ, and figured it would work with fruit, too.

Grab the fruit that you have around.  I chose ones that will not brown after you cut them, since I do enough at one time for a few days worth of lunches.

After you chop them up into KID bite-sized pieces ~we do not want big chucks, choking is no fun!  Then grab some lollipop sticks and a skewer.  You can use skewers for all the fruit, but I don't like sharp pointy objects in my kids lunch boxes!  I only use the skewer to poke fruit that the lollipop stick won't pierce, like orange slices and grapes.  I have honeydew, watermelon, oranges, grapes, and kiwi.  Other choices can be strawberries, cherries, cantaloupe, banana, etc.  Remember, though, that browned fruit is not so appetizing!!

 

I will send a bit of fruit dip along or yogurt, if I have any on hand. But the change in presentation, and the fact that they get so many different kinds is enough to get them eating.  With this size of stick, they receive 2 for each meal.  It is just as enjoyable for us big kids too *wink, wink*.

  
 

Make Your Own ... Glitter Embellishments !!

I have a tutorial for you today!!  Here is the card, that goes with it, and the possibilities are ENDLESS with this one, gotta love that.

So, I made those stars for the card!!  This is a perfect thing to do for the guys in our lives that are so hard to create for.  Your shapes are only limited to your imagination or Google Images... hehehe (search with heart, star, octagon, etc, "stencil").  Then print them onto plain paper.  Now you are ready to start!

Place your print out under a nice big piece of wax paper.  You will now need some Crystal Effects (#101055) and glitter of your choice.  I used Chunky Essentials (#108797) and Fine Supernova (114287) in black and teal.  This is another part that is only limited to the different kinds of glitter you have!  Next, you use your crystal effects to outline OR fill in the shape and sizes that you want.

After you have the crystal effects the way you want it, you then sprinkle it with glitter.  I used the chunky glitter on the solid shapes.  Now comes the hard part - WALK AWAY !!  You need to let this dry for AT LEAST 2 hours, but overnight is best.

You need to make sure they are COMPLETELY dry, so that they don't pull apart or break while you are peeling them off the wax paper.  Slow is key here.  Then to adhere the to your project (again endless possibilities ~ scrapbooks, cards, 3D projects), just use glue or dimensionals.  What are you going to make?  Link it below so we can check them out.

Nothing Left But The Tying

This is what 162 wedding invitations looks like.  My sisters have eggplant ink all over their hands because they are not used to stamping ... hehehe.  They already have the reply cards tucked inside the little pocket, and I am only waiting for the ribbon to finish them up!  Some f the ribbons did walk off with the one that is engaged to hand deliver to some friends.

Here is the happy couple the EXACT MOMENT he asked her !!  It is a pretty cool story, actually.  He is from Montreal and she lives in Calgary.  She flew out there to be with his family for Easter, but had to be ready for a photo shoot that he "won".  He had it all set up with the studio to capture their special moment on film, and she never had a clue~ pretty smart guy, me thinks!  Congrats Sanjay and Jennifer, may God bless you with MANY happy years together.
 
 

BUSY BUSY BUSY !!!

WEll, it is the long weekend here in Canada, but instead of lounging at the cabin, I am working my butt off (oops, just checked and it is still there) tail off to get my sister's wedding invites done.  There are 170 to make and we want to get them done today!!

I have done as much as I can with cutting and prepping.  All them embossing is done, and most of the cutting, just a bit left.

My sister and my mom came to help me out one afternoon.  There is already more than 12 hours into these babies and we have not stamped a thing.  And then have to put everything together!!  I am hoping that all the pre-prep makes things go smooth.  She decided to go with THESE WEDDING INVITES (Template Here).  I better get off of here - LOTS to get done!!

 
 

Daddy's Brag Book

I decided to get a jump on Father's Day for everyone.  We made these at my last 2 classes and they were a HIT !!  We used my Accordion Card Tutorial to put everything together.

I used the Bella Bleu DSP(#113974) for the background and the CS colors are not quite navy, brocade blue, barely banana, and white.  The stars are from the Large Star(#110710) and Star(#109045) punches.  The ribbon is very vanilla grosgrain(#109026) and the brads(#104336) were added for extra oomph.

Here it is all opened up.  I used some retired star stamps and the punches for embellishing. The boys initials were cut out using the Big Shot(#113439).  A coupe pictures I rounded the corners and the others left square.  This is my idea of a great scrapbook, because you can have it finished in the course of 1 hour!!  Here is a couple close up shots.

Home Decor

So, I thought I'd make the place a bit more like spring / summer. After I added my snowflake signature in the Sunshine Post, I thought it was time for some dress up.  What do you think?  I even made a new signature link to go with it.  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

A Beautiful Day

This is my favorite spot right now.  Our deck is all screened in and I got a swing from Costco to enjoy the morning sunshine.  We have had some pretty warm days lately ~ hence fewer posts ~ but I like checking my emails out here.  This picture was taken at 7:30 in the morning!!  The boys just got on the bus for school, so I headed to my sunny reprieve.  Quiet and warm.

So, you remember WAY BACK last June, when I posted THIS?!?  I figured I'd show you how they are doing now.  When we put them in, they were only as big as Jayden, now some of the trees are even taller than Russ!

We are in for another scorcher today, 29C or 84F.  Man, do we have swings in temperature or what ?!?  I am going to get some tanning in today, since I have to take full advantage when the sun does shine here.  Next week, we could have snow... hehehe.  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!
