When I feel the NEED to craft and stamp, I tend to go a bit more challenging to myself. I want to see that I have truly accomplished something at the end of it. This card is no exception to that rule ~ I probably spent 2 hours on it ! Here's why.
ETA : FREE Flower Tutorial is HERE !!
This is a 5 X 5 card, and I made those flowers!! They each measure about 2.5 inches across and while I don't usually toot my own horn ... THEY ARE GORGEOUS !! They turned out exactly how I had pictured in my mind. The first one took the longest, and the second one came together a lot faster. The bonus - EVERYTHING IS STAMPIN' UP!
The colors I used are wild wasabi, pink pirouette, so saffron and white. The leaves are textured wasabi, though, which lends to a more realistic feel. The stamp sets are Belle Toile (#111598) and Thoughts and Prayers (#113252). The centers of the flower are embellished with the new Basic Pearls (#119247).
Tomorrow, we have an appointment with the C word Clinic here to see what our options are from the medical side of it. We are also still waiting on the call from a couple of specialists regarding surgery or whether that is even an option. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, as they treat his case. Also for Russ and I, that God will guide us to the right decision.
We are feeling pretty good mentally and spiritually - The peace of God passes all understanding!! And that comes from being lifted to the throne of grace, for where 2 or 3 are gathered, he is in the midst. Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!
I will use a bubble mailer :)

I love these...the flowers are gorgeous...how do you send a card like this through the mail without the roses being
crushed? You and Russ are both in my prayers every night...hope all works out for you both at the Doctors.

Wow, this is a fabulous card! I know what you mean - I will often take an hour or more to create a card or scrapbook page. I'd rather only get one done and be extremely pleased with it than have a bunch of ho-hum cards/pages. I'll add you to my prayer list - I hope things go well!

Wow! This is such a gorgeous card. You really outdid yourself. I will keep you in my prayers.

Prayers for you both as you beat this battle!
Thank-you for sharing! :o)

Julie,
This card is absolutely beautiful! I would LOVE to know how to make the flowers but know it would never come out as beautiful and STILL take me much longer than 2 hours!!
I know you have the prayers of all your blog followers and mine are included. I hope things went well at your appointment.

Hi Julie
You are in my thoughts and prayers for sure. But I have a suggestion. I'm a vegan raw foodie. Since I went raw I have read so many testimonials on how people cured themselves of cancer by changing their diet. Raw food is healing. Along with the Isagenix and raw foods I believe cancer can be healed. Of course you still need to follow the Doctors plan but changing our diet is very healing. One thing that I have learned is that sugar feeds the cancer cells. So no sugar even in fruits. Please email me if you have any questions and I can point you to a couple of good websites. Peace Cynthia

Julie--what an absolutely beautiful card!!! I am not a pink lover, even though I have 3 daughters, but this is indescribable!!!! Those flowers would rival the real thing anytime!!! And last longer--ha ha!
You are in my thoughts and prayers and I am hoping things come out well for you and your family. In the past year, my 2 sisters-in-law on DH side have gone through breast c, and now my Dad is struggling through myeloma at the age of 79. I found a quote one day that I have posted on my wall--"You don't know how strong you are until strong is the only choice you have". It seems to fit my situation quite well. I know you are definitely strong, but take care of yourself!!
Posted by: Linda Larson | August 13, 2010 at 04:33 PM
Julie, I will pray for you and Russ and ask that you do the same for me as my family is also facing huge medical challenges. My DH and I are both cancer survivors but our challenge now is our beautiful 43 yr old daughter who has been diagnosed w/MS. There are many problems in addition to the MS (financial mainly) so we are asking for sustaining prayers during our struggles. I'm so incredibly saddened you are facing medical issues w/your DH and will keep you lifted up in the healing arms of our dear Savior.

Julie where are you located? I think you are near me for some reason - lower mainland BC?
I just went through the c battle - surgery, chemo, radiation, physical therapy and now reconstruction.
I had awesome medical support and I know that people travel far and wide to see my oncologist.
My point is if you are close I'd be happy to sit with you or bring you stuff when needed.
My thoughts are with you and your family! You can get through this!
