Hi Julie,
I remember how all those "firsts" affected my Mom when my Dad passed. Those little things were harder than anyone could imagine! You are so wise to continue to take the time for yourself, to relax with friends and family. They will be a source of comfort as you navigate all this new territory. I continue to pray for God's peace that passes all understanding to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Kay Mespelt

Hi-Sweetie- I'll be thinking of you and your family during this holiday season. It will be tough--I know from my own experience! Take care- Hugs Kay

I'm a fellow SU from the states and I follow your site. It's always been fun to watch what you and your family has been up to. I've cried thru Russ's illness; having lost both of my parents to cancer, and a dear friend. My 38 year old niece also recovered from breast cancer. But we go on, as life does. Remember: you are allowed to have fun, Russ would want it, and is smiling down as he sees your smile. Take care thru these tough times, the holidays will especially be. But you can look at both of your boys and see Russ smiling back at you. God bless you.

What a beautiful couple (weight and all). One day at a time, Julie. A new "normal" will emerge over time. Memories are a good thing. Love and hugs to you and your family.

It is a wonderful picture of you and Russ. I hope you have it hanging somewhere so you can look at it and see the happiness you shared. Continued prayers for you and your family as you go through the holiday season. God Bless.....

sending you and your family lots of love and hope. i'm glad you're shaking your thang!! you're amazing soul.

Hi Julie,
You don't know me but I check on you every day. You see, I too lost my husband and best friend 3 years ago. I'm 56 and my kids are grown, and I'm certain you are considerably younger! It is only because I have the assurance that my husband is with his Lord and Savior that I am able to get thru another day...and to KNOW I will see him again one day gives me such great hope, peace and strength. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as you face all the "firsts" over the weeks and months ahead without him. How blessed your children are to have such a wonderful role model. And to all those who follow your blog I say, YOU TOO, can have the peace that passes all understanding. Continue to draw your strength from above, Julie.

Thinking of you Julie and hoping that you have a great time at Zumba.

Hi Julie
I read your incoming comments and feel the same 'loss' as everyone else. It is good to realize that your not the 'only' one. This has helped me a lot, since loosing my spouse 3 yrs. ago. Glad your assets were all in order. Saves a lot in legal costs and much less to do, than dealing with as estate process. Long story, in my situation!! In regards to your vehicle insurance, in AB I know you can leave it as is. I still have my spouse's name on my policy. The name also stands as the 2nd driver, eventhough they are not using the vehicle. You could check it out, or leave it until they question you about it.
Just a bit of advice. Hugs and prayers.

Oh Julie, you are an amazing woman! I can't imagine what you are feeling but you sound so strong. That is a beautiful picture of you and Russ even if it is before you lost your weight, you both look amazing!
Sure hope you have fun at zumba class, you deserve it!!!

Just want you to know I'm still praying for you. Take good care of yourself during these days. Also, my husband was 6 when he lost his father to a drunk driver. If you need any input from someone who was raised by a single/widow mother, he's always more than happy to answer candid questions.

Julie, I thought of you today when I saw this. I pray that it will bless you and that you will know you're in the palm of HIS hands during these difficult times. I pray for you every time you come to mind. God bless!

That photo is a great one of the two of you. Your family is in my thoughts daily. I couldn't imagine what you are dealing with. You are such a strong person. Your family is lucky to have you. Enjoy Zumba tonight.

These anniversaries in the first year are particularly tough. Hang in there and I'm glad you are getting out and getting some activity in. Good for you! Prayers still comin' and hope you have a good day. I HATED those phone calls when I made them after my mom died. So hard and I don't think anyone really gets how hard that is until they have to do it. Don't rush it...things can wait if you need them to.

Thinking of you as you deal with all the practicalities.
Beautiful picture of you and Russ.
Have fun at Zumba! You are a clever thing, aren't you?

I have been keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. A month is a small amount of time but also a big milestone and you have done it with such strength and grace.

I am so honored that you brought us (that have never met you) into your most personal time in your life and shared with us the stories of Russ and his courageous battle with his illness. The picture above is precious and it's a wonderful picture of you both.

With the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, I am going to give Thanks for getting to know you and your family in such a special way!

I am sorry that you have to go through the tough times of changing things that had Russ's name on them, but I am also so happy to hear that you are getting out to enjoy some time with friends to have some fun.

Enjoy it, you truly deserve it!!

Terry Molineux

Julie what an awesome picture. It's the memories that count now....and keep those close to you. That is what's going to get you through, you are a strong woman and I envy you, I know I couldn't do it. I'd just crumble. So glad you are getting yourself out for some fun...Enjoy and keep us posted how it went...

Thoughts and prayers are with you!

What a precious picture. Glad you were able to get out and have some fun (((hugs)))
