When Russ was still at home, I had to think of fun things to do with the kids that were not normally done. I found doing the same things just got old for them (and me), and we couldn't always leave to get away from it all.
I let them do the dunking of the strawberries, while I tend to do it for them oversaw, and melted the white chocolate chips. I had to give up my anal/perfectionist tendencies for this project. I used Wilton Candy Melts, so they harden right there on the counter, no need for the fridge. After this part, they wanted to lick the bow and I did the finishing touches.
All I can say - YUMMO !! I put the white chocolate in a little baggy, cut the corner off and squeeed the piping on the starwberries. So easy, and what a tasty little treat.
May God bless you abundantly for the time you give in His service. Children need this fundamental Christian education especially in these times. Thank you for your good works.

Those are beautiful! I LOVE dipped strawberries. We had a chocolate fountain at my son's graduation party, with the most gorgeous strawberries I had ever seen. I'll never forget those beauties, and how much fun everyone had holding them under the fountain! I'm sure you all enjoyed yours as well! I've done them like that, too! :D YUM!

Julie,
We're60 miles s. of the Canadian border and a girlfriend of mine drives to Canada just to buy the chocolate for her dipped strawberries, says it's the absolute best and having tasted her chocolate covered strawberries, I'd have to agree.
You and the boys are still in our prayers.

Looks like the boys might have creative juices in them too ... just like their Mom. They would make Martha so proud! (BTW ... love the aprons ... they look so professional!).

Julie, I still have my darling husband of 46 years, but do not have my children who went to be with their Lord at the age of 15, 19, and 21. I grieve with you and know that you will get sgtronger and your prayers will see you through so much.

Julie I am alergic to strawberries but they sure look yummy and what a great mom. I had my girls help me too but I didn't have too much patience with them....

Aw Julie- you are a fantastic mom. Looks like you are choosing 'life', and that takes bravery and courage that no one else will ever know you are choosing, but know that you are incredibly courageous for choosing to live life one moment at a time today. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Looks like they did a great job...and I can only assume they enjoyed eating them, all the more for having had their hands in the creation. A good experience for all three of you, I'm sure. It's a fabulous photo just waiting to be added to a scrapbook!

Speaking of fun is it possible for you and the boys to go on a vacation? After my mother died we went on a vacation to California. It was such a gift to get away from the grief and sadness for a while. It made things brighter when we returned home.
Is it possible for us your cyber family to make it happen? I hope so.

You are such a good Mom. Those look yummy!
Posted by: Sandi | November 11, 2010 at 01:24 PM
you ans i are so much alike...lol
i'd have a hard time too with a project like this..and giving up my seat at the control desk!
not to mention worrying about the chocolate drippings that may have wound up on the floor and on their clothes..lol
however.."letting go" from time to time does the soul good.
