Last night, I had a stamping class and it felt so good to get some ink on paper. I had to make a card for my Grandma, since it doesn't look like she is doing too well. I may have ANOTHER funeral to go to in the next while. This is certainly getting hard on this heart!
I wanted to make her a card, but not a "Get Well" card. At 93, I'm sure she'd be very happy to head up to heaven - maybe she'll give Russ a hug for me. ( Paused for tears, as I just realized what I typed. I would SO RATHER be the one to hug him!!) So, I just made card that tells her exactly how I feel about her.
I just added strips of DSP for a quilted look, even adding the faux stitching with the Early Espresso Marker. Then, all the edges were sponged in grey, for an aged feel. The heart from Punch Potpourri was stamped in grey on the pacific point CS and then sponged, as well as the DSP heart. I used some adhesive pearls to go around the smaller heart for some definition. The Victoria crochet ribbon, and then early espresso ribbon were tied together for the finishing touch. This is not my usually style, but I am saying that a lot lately. Maybe, I have to find a new style to play with for awhile, but I actually like this card. It is busy, without being over the top, but still has a fresh feel to it. Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!
I like your card very much. Your are very fortunate that you have had your grandmother for so long. At 93 I'm sure that she has lived a very full life. I will be praying for you as you again look to our Lord for strength to go through this yet again.

I am shedding some tears right now too. Aunt Helen is such a sweet, sweet lady. Don't blame her for reaching toward heaven, but I too will be sad to see her go.
And I love, love, love this card!

Fabulous card!! Love the pearls around the overlapping heart. So sorry to hear your grandmother is not doing so well, but know she will be touched to receive this. Hold on tight to Jesus, he'll get you through these tough times :)

So good to express your love to her while you can and she is able to receive it from you. Nice card. The little pearl accent kicks this one over the top. They were the perfect addition. Praying for you...

Beautiful card Julie! I'm sorry to hear that your Grandma isn't doing very well! I lost both of mine when I was very young. Just keep the saying that "God never gives you anything that you can't handle" and that "He'll lead you through whatever he leads you to". Small comfort I know, but keep plugging away! There's a lot of people in blogland who are praying for you and yours!

Slow brain here, what is DSP?? You say the card isn't your usual style, yet I think it is very suitable for your grandmother, she will love it. And I am sure she will so appreciate the love you are sharing with her through this card. Each moment is a growing moment and like everyone else I say...thanks for sharing.

thanks so much for sharing this card. It is so different and it is helpful to me in realizing that there are cards that can be done that look great and I don't have to spend all day creating. Great choice of papers and colors. Blessings to you and yours.

It's a great card and the sentiment is ideal. It has a lot of components, but I don't think it looks busy at all....it's neat! Age does take its toll; I'm sorry about your Grandmother's ill health.

Julie....you are such a wonderful person. I am so sorry you have to go through all this loss at such a young age. The boys will keep you busy and I am sure your heavy heart will lessen as time goes on. Boy at 93 she sure had a good life. My family has a very short lifespan, I think the oldest was 75. Both my parents died at 60 and I only have two years and it's kind of scary to me...
Wishing you peace in your heart.
