It's Kinda Sketchy

I just love sketch challenges, it gives you the framework for the card, but everything else is left up to your own creativity. So, Lindsey and I got to work on this one!!

Do you know we have had now here already ?? OH YES, and the fireplace has been going in the evenings for quite sometime already. And for such a reason, I created my card ...

Always artichoke is my base, with some Basic Grey DSP. Gold is my accent color, and it all just came together. This really was a simple card. with the Christmas tree stamped off once before I added to the CS. The sentiment was embossed in gold, with the gold brads as a finishing touch.

Fall Color Challenge

So, Lindsey and I figured a fall color challenge would be the perfect way to start off the season. Here is the palette we chose ...

I chose the colors more mustard, river rock, bravo burgundy, and chocolate chip. Here is what I came up with, and I stuck with the fall theme ... lol

I am in love with how this card turned out - from the leaves, to the flag sentiment, it just really matches the feel. The bottom stamped with the woodgrain BG just the the perfect touch, I feel. I also wanted to add a touch of gold, since that is such an autumn color, too.

The longer leaf was completely embossed with the gold, but the other two leaves, just had specks embossed on for shimmer. I inked up the leaves, thumped some extra color on, and then sprayed with water, quickly stamping on my watercolor paper. It really gived the leaves a mottled look, which always happens in real life.

It's so Bendi !

I found this tutorial on Splitcoast called a "Bendi card". I thought it looked so cool, and asked Lindsey if she would be willing to play along with me ... She said "yes", she's AWESOME like that !!

Here is how my card ended up

I don't have much for dies to make it full 3D look, but I did what I could.

The front frame on the card, bends outward to give it the dimensional feel. I glued the glass on to the frame, as well as the leaves, to add to the effect. You're So Square !!

At least the challenge, that is. We get so caught up in making standard cards, that it is nice to change it up a bit, so Lindsey and I decided a different shape would be fun!

This has got to be my favorite card I have made in a while !! Pink pirouette and river rock make such a great combination, and then the white to set it all off. Don't even remember the name of the stamp set, it is LONG SINCE retired, but the stars are nice for birthdays. This is a pretty feminine card, but also really fun at the same time.

PLEASE PRAY !!

My mom had her surgery on Tuesday, and it seems there was a complication. Her left leg does not work at all, and through a CT Scan they have discovered it is her lateral nerve. God can do many miracles!! We, as a family, ask you to keep her in your prayers and ask for complete healing from the surgery and all it entails ! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts !!

Are You Sick ?

Today, Lindsey and I decided to do a Get Well card for the challenge. I don't have to make them very often, and prefer more of an encouragement type card, but I really wanted to make one for my mom. Her surgery is today over in Germany, and I am a basket of nerves. Trying to keep busy, and having 2 sets of nails helps, but I will be praying constantly! (More information HERE if you want to know.)

So, here is my card, I wanted clean and simple for this one.

My colors are midnight muse with white. I punched the bottom for a fancier feel, and then glued the midnight CS behind. I added the ribbon for both an accent to the front, and to cover the CS line on the inside of the card. That sentiment had never been inked before - it was shiny new !! I used my markers in midnight and marina mist to ink it up, and I think it looks great. Simple, but does get the point across. But, hey, you could place any sentiment or color with it for EVERY type of occasion!
