Paper Pleasing Ideas

School Days

School has definitely started.  Jayden now has preschool, and so both boys have their backpacks to carry.  I decided to make them tags to name them, instead of writing on the backpack with a marker.

  I paper pieced almost everything, except the face, feet and hands.  I stamped Donald from CC Designs (from All That Scraps).  Then I stamped him a a couple of different paper, one DP and one textured CS, cutting out the shirt and pants.

I colored him in, then glued the rest on, including the backpack.  I wrote his name on the side, and the important info on the back. 

Jayden was so excited that he had to have one too.  I didn't go through all the work like Dylan's, since Jay only goes afternoons, twice a week.

   I stamped his on a coaster (light weight) that I cut down to 3 X 4.  I used my corner rounder to round the edges - YES, it will punch no problem.  I used my crop-a-dile to add the jumbo eyelet to the top.  I wrote his name, and colored in the image.  I then used the Atyou clear glitter pen to color over the backpack for some sparkle.

I told him to put it back in a few times, but it came out farther every time I said anything.  Finally, I just took the picture, since I didn't want it to be any worse...LOL.

Holiday Helper Book

I had to make myself a little book for helping me out this year.  My surgery was utmost on my mind, so Christmas preparations were on the back burner.  BUT now that I have plenty time to sit and stamp, I made myself this little helper to make sure I stay on track for the season.

I am not giving instructions, but rather a list of all the supplies for this project, since I don't want to overwhelm those with email subscriptions, nor do I want to be typing for the next hour...LOL

I am putting the picture of the inside pages below, and you can click on them all for a larger view.

The things I have written inside, was what I felt need to work for me this Christmas, but you can add more or less pages, and change the content to suit your needs !

Christmas Coaster Frame

When I was heading home from my retreat, Amy and I decided to stop in at a $1 store (DOLLORAMA) and go through the craft aisle.  We were there on a tip from Andria, saying they had hinges there (6 for a buck), and we had to check it out.  Turns out, there were a few left and we each bought about 12 packages...hehehe.  Here is my first project with them.

I took two coasters (Peggy has them in her store HERE), and inked the edges all around with always artichoke ink.  I took some SU Wintergreen DP and covered each one, before putting them together with the hinges. I added artichoke mat to each, using the All In A Row stamp for some faux stitching in the same ink.

I stamped the Christmas trees from the CC Designs set, Lucky's Christmas Wish with black on more DP, and cut them all out.  I stamped the sentiment from the same set with artichoke on top, and then glued 2 trees onto the mat, using the stardust pen to add some sparkle.  I added the third tree, using dimensionals, and then put some glitter glue onto it, for extra pizazz.

The picture is added digitally, since I couldn't print anything right now to save my life - my printer ran out of ink - AHHHHH!  That is why it is not perfectly aligned on the mat, but you get the idea.

Hopefully this gets you creating neat Christmas gift ideas.  Once I get the pictures printed, I will be making a few more of these for grandparents and great grandparents.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Another One Done

Two down and two more to go.  I finished the 3D stamp camp project today, and only changed it twice during the process - AMAZING.  I always find ways to change the 3D stuff after I have already finished it.  So for this swap, I made coaster Christmas Tree ornamants.

I used plain, white, round coasters, and stamped the snow family from Flaky Friends in black Stazon.  I watercolored them with handsome hunter and bravo burgundy inks and my aqua painter.  After that, it looked to blah, so I added dimension with sahara sand as shadows.  Well then, it was looking kinda vintage to me, so I overstamped everything with the sanded BG in sahara, and then urbbed the edges in the inkpad, as well.

I stamped the sentiment from Snowflake Spot in stazon, before adding the dazzling diamonds to the ground and some of the snow"people" (gotta be politically correct).

I finally used my crop-a-dile to make the hole in the top and set my eyelet, adding the gold cord to hang it with.  Seriously, that took about 2 seconds.  I made a few of these last year for my tree (see here), and they looked so pretty.  Sorry about that picture, I got my camera for Christmas last year.  It is super easy, and one great way to make a personlized gift.  You can also rest assured, since they probably have not gotten one like yours before either.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Blessed Baby Book

This is the altered notebook I was making on my Wacky Day post for my friend who had the baby girl.  I made my own book using 2 coasters, and sahara sand CS for the pages inside.

The DP on the coaster is from Memory Block 4 from Castco, but everything else is Stampin' Up!  I punched the holes with my new crop-a-dile *Wow, that is an awesome tool*.  It went through 8 - yes eight - sheets of CS and a coaster with NO PROBLEMS!!  I bet it woulda gone through the back coaster too, but that didn't fit in the hole punch area, it got too thick. 

I attached the DP to the coasters with sticky strip.  I covered my chipboard "b", from the Lots Of Letters On Board Simon,with rose red CS, sanded it, and then tied on the pink gingham ribbon.

I stamped the word blessed minus the b (So Very - retired SAB), and used the short order alpha from the rest of the word baby.  I sponged the edge with sahara sand before matting in on the rose that I had punch with the ticket corner.  I added my "b" to the sentiment with sticky strip and then used the mat pack to line up my rose brads.

I used sticky strip to adhere the ribbon and then added my image panel.  I finally used my 3 for U punch to get the flower for the top corner, attaching it with a pretty in pink brad.  After I finished the pages inside, I tied them ether with the pink gingham again.  Here are a couple shots of the inside.

I have added some mats, tags, pockets, but lots of blank pages for writing down things like her first smile, step, tooth, etc.  I really hope she likes it.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

COASTERS!!!

WHO WANTS SOME???

My good friend Peggy, got another shipment of coasters in (they are the heavy weight), and since I already placed my order *wink, wink*, I figured I could let you know that she has lots to get rid of.  Just so I beat you to the punch, I ordered 100, since some of you are going email and ask...ROFL.  I ordered 500 on her last shipment, so I didn't need as many this time!  Click on her name to find out more information, she has prices listed and everything!!

FINALLY, another tutorial!!

This is my card for the Featured Stamper challenge today, CASEd from KED's wonderful creation here.  I loved her colors and the layout!

I stamped and masked the flowers and the bird from Natural Beauty on white.  I colored them in with really rust, old olive and certainly celery inks.  The bird was colored in with sahara sand, rust and black pastels, with a blender pen.  I sponged the sky with tempting turquoise using my cloud template (here), masking the flowers and the bird.  I matted this piece on rust.  I also added glitter to the centers of the flowers, though it never showed up really well.

My base is tempting turquoise and I using the new Palette ' Prints paper in celery to mat on there.  I am loving those papers AND the fact that they will be in the new catty in 12 assorted colors - WOOOHOOO!!

I stamped the sentiment from Happy Harmony on cool carribean and punched it out with the 1 1/4 circle punch.  I matted it on the charm I made - tutorial below - and then punched an olive piece with the 1 3/8 and glued it on behind.  I strung the celery grosgrain through the top and tied it onto the turquoise ribbon.  I mounted the image panel with dimensionals.

I am SOOO doing this charm thing again, I love that look!!  Now, so you can make one too!!

 

First, you cut your sliders with the Cuttlebug out of a lightweight coaster or cardboard, you will need the two with extending tabs.  I used the circle for my card, but am showing you the square, as well.  You then lay you negative over the tag, the opposite way it was cut out.  You can see in the last picture, the black line on the square.  You trace the line from your negative onto the tag to get the place you need to cut.  The circle was cut on the line.  This way, the circle is the same way all the way around.  As you can tell from the card above, it worked like a *CHARM*...hehehe.  Have fun and happy stamping!!

But for those for whom it was intended, it was a PHENOMENAL HIT!!

I got my Zutter Bind-It-All yesterday (All That Scraps), a brighter moment with what happened the night before.  I decided to make a board book for my boys - makes it easier to justify a purchase when you do something for your kids...ROFL!!

As you can see, the cover is nothing special, but it should have been LESS, if you can believe it!  They have already tried to pick off the chipboard.  I covered the coasters that were for the two covers on one side only, the chipboard on the front is from the On Board Accents.  The other coasters were not covered, but were stamped on with the Crayon Kids set(retired).  I made an educational board book, with colors and things they can identify.  I stamped the letters with the Pure and Simple alpha that was retired last year, as well as some letters from Stamp Craft.  You can click on the pictures for a bigger view.

So it may not be my best stamping ever, but it makes me feel good when they love it so much!  I will try to make another one just for me next *wink, wink*.
