Julie's Color Concoction #26

  I am going easy on you this week.  The JCC26 colors are :

• white
• any one color

That's it.  You use white and then one color, not shades of a color - ONE COLOR!  I chose not quite navy for mine.  The base is the navy, and then white stamped with bella toile and sponged. 

Then I went on to my flowers.  I chose Upsy Daisy and stamped them in versamark on white, embossing them with clear EP.  I then inked up my brayer with not quite navy, and rolled it onto scrap paper before going over the image.  This really softened the color, since I didn't want it too dark.  Then I plugged in my iron, and made a sandwich (ironing sandwich that is...hehehe).

1. towel
2. embossed CS (image up)
3. scrap paper (white, no printing on it)

Then, with your iron on high and no steam, go over top of the scrap paper until all the embossing product has transfered over .  You are now left with a image, but nothing else on the paper.  I then used 2 way glue and added some dazzling diamonds to the flowers.  This was added with dimensionals to the white matted on navy.

The image panel was attached to the base with dimensionals, after I tied on some ribbon.  Finally, I stamped the sentiment from the same set, inking up only part of it with my marker.  I punched it out with the word window and used more dimensionals for that, too.

Peace At Christmas - Julie's Color Concoction #25

So often, we stamp a verse inside the card to convey what we want to the recipient.  I chose to use a verse from the new set Christmas Verses by AmyR Stamps to grace the front of my Christmas card.  I really like how it becomes the focal point.

 

The base of my card is aways artichoke and I layered on some Wonderland DP.  I then sponged the edges with artichoke, so that both layered would be distressed.  I took some riding hood red, stamped the word on it from Christmas Sentiments in the same ink, as well as sponged these edges.  I glued it down, and faux stitched around the edge with my chocolate chip marker.  I cut a 1" strip of artichoke, sponged it, and then tied the new Alpine ribbon to it - doesn't it match perfectly ?!?

The verse was stamped on vanilla with artichoke, and the stars (Stampin' Up!) added with riding hood red.  I then punched the it with the ticket corner punch and sponged the edges with the red.  I matted this onto chocolate CS and added it to the card with dimensionals.

I punched 3 circles with my 1/4 circle punch out of chocolate CS, and attached them to the card with ruby red brads.  I think this card is distressed looking, but so pretty, with the perfect Christmas colors.  So let's make it a color concoction challenge.  The JCC25 colors are :

1. riding hood red
2. always artichoke
3. chocolate chip
4. very vanilla

JCC24 ~ Sunrise Thoughts

  I very close friend of mine is going through a hard time, and I decided to make a card for her.

I used my tutorial, HERE, to make the sunrise card, but I used whisper white CS.  I have had a few questions about whether it would work as well, so I tried it.  The answer - an emphatic "NO".  You can totally see a line where my tangerine tango met the apricot appeal, and I could not blend it any further.

I stamped on the Upsy Daisy flowers in chocolate chip, and sponged the edges in the same ink.  I then covered them in Crystal Ice Stickles from All That Scraps.  It does not look good on this picture, but it is lovely IRL.

I added the sentiment on the designer label and 1 3/8 punches. 

The base was tango sponged with chocolate ink.  The apricot was stamped with the sanded BG in the coordinating ink, and then sponged with chocolate, as well.  I added the 1" stitched chocolate ribbon around, and matted it all.  Then I added the image panel with dimensionals.  It has a lovely fall feel, and is the JCC24 for this Sunday.

I also want to say thanks to Megan, the winner of JCC22.  She graciously asked that her card be given to the Janzen / Ginther families (You can read more on that HERE and HERE).  A bit of an update - They had a meeting at the cancer clinic this week, and were given more bad news.  Her abdomen and liver are full of tumors.  She was told that chemo would not really help, but she has decided to have treatments anyway.  I can totally understand, since she has children.  I would probably do the same thing in her shoes, and God can work miracles today!  Please keep them in your prayers, as they have a hard road ahead.

Julie's Color Concoction #23 - Thanks Top Note

 Don't you just love playing when you get new stamps, accessories, tools ... pretty much whatevah!!  I got a few dies from Stampin' Up!, I am so pumped that they joined with Sizzix for this catalog, and many more to come.  On to the card, and the colors for this JCC23 are :

1. old olive
2. perfect plum
3. so saffron

This was also for the Featured Stamper challenge over on SCS, and I CASEd Liz's card.   did flip her sketch and did not make a square card, but the idea is the same.

I started with a base of white, and stamped the Baroque Motifs flourishes on it with olive.  I then added a strip to the top, and scalloped the bottom with my scallop edge punch.  The bottom olivestrip, is actually inside the card.  Then the whole thing was sponged, except for the scallop edge.

I cut the Top Note with both plum and white CS, but cut on the perforated edge on the white.  I stamped the Gratuitous Graffiti BG, by coloring with all 3 markers.  I then glued it to the plum, and wrapped the saffron ribbon around it, attaching it to the card with dimensionals.

I stamped the flower from Heartfelt Thanks, by inking it up with my markers, and then sponging the edge in saffron.  This was then matted to the sponged olive, and then to the top note.  I tied the bow using my BowMaker from theCardLadies.com, and then added it to the card with sticky strip.

I stamped the sentiment from Thank You Kindly in olive, punched it out with the small oval and then the the plum with the large oval.  I glued the together, added the saffron brads, and then dotted the edge with the olive marker.  Finally, I attached it to the card with more dimensionals.  Liz did not have a sentiment on her card, but I felt I needed one.

  Can you say STUNNING!!

I am loving the options you have with these stamps, you get such beautiful results.  One color is a repeat from last time, but it just turned out so nice!  These are the colors for this weeks JCC22 :

• mellow moss
• baja breeze
• always artichoke

My base is a 5 X 5 white card, and I stamped the Bella Toile on it with the  baja ink.  I stamped it off first, though, before putting it on the card, then sponged the edges, as well.

The scallop square was made with my new scallop punch from SU, and I started with a moss 4.5 X 4.5 square.  I really like how the corners ended up, just a little fancier.

I stamped the flowers from Inspired by Nature with baja, stamped off  first.  I then added the grass images over it in moss, full strength and then again.  I added the sentiment from Nature Silhouettes in artichoke, and then sponged the edges with the same ink.  This was then matted to the scallop square and I punched it with my rectangle punch. This was attached with dimensionals after I threaded the moss taffeta through it, and then tied it around the card.

This was one of the entried for my JCC21 and isn't this a beauty ?  I really LOVED how the Cuttlebug leaf BG totally went with the stamped images!  So, joyk, send me your snail mail addy, and I will get this card out to you right away!!

Julie's Color Concoction #21

I don't have to give away my card from JCC20, 'cause no one played along. 

But, I am going to post another one.  The colors for JCC21 are :

1. not quite navy
2. baja breeze (New In Color)
3. garden green

For some reason, I just love blue roses.  Not just on paper, but actual blue roses.  I myself, have only seen the dyed ones, but in 2004 they finally developed a rose that will bloom true blue.  I can only imagine the cost of having one in my home, so I will stamp mine.

The base is NQN, and the bottom corners were rounded.  I added this lovely satin ribbon (it was around a housecoat I bought), since it just seemed to go so nicely.  I ran the baja through the Cuttlebug with the textile embossing folder and then again with the largest scallop rectangle nestie. This was added to the card with dimensionals.

I stamped the rose on white (SU Roses in Winter - retired), by inking the largest one in baja and rolling the edges in NQN.  I stamped it off before putting it on the CS.  I inked the next stamp the same way, but did not stamp it off first.  Then the final stamp was NQN stamped off.  I masked the rose and added the sprigs with garden green, and added the sentiment in NQN.  I rounded the corners of the white and NQN CS and matted them together.  I then added the 3 silver brads and attached it to the card with dimensionals.  I used my 1/4 circle punch with baja CS to get the circles on the base, and added the silver brads on top.

Julie's Color Concoction #20

Yes, I know.  I was kinda slacking on the JCC, but here I am with another one.

  The colors for JCC20 are :

• chocolate chip
• pumpkin pie
• apricot appeal

I did have a concoction kinda like this one HERE, but that one was a lot softer.  This one is bolder and good for fall or thanksgiving themed cards.

My base is chocolate, and is 5 X 5.  The apricot layer first had the floral BG stamp on it in pumpkin, sponged and then matted.

I loved Laurie's layout, so I used that as my inspiration for the rest of the card.  The chocolate diamond is 3.25 square, with two holes punched on either end for ribbon.  I used the rectangle punch for that and the corner rounder on the 2 that would not be covered.

I cut the pumpkin layer with my square scalloped nestie (from ATS), and the matted it to the chocolate CS.  I stamped the fancy doohickeys (Frames With A Flourish - SU) in pumpkin on the apricot, and sponged the edges.  I stamped the sentiment in chocolate (True Friend - SU), and then added it to the pumpkin CS.  The whole thing was then attached to the base with dimensionals.

I strung the chocolate taffeta ribbon through the holes, using double-sided tape to hold it down.  This also helps to attach it to the whit card base.  I added some of the Cream Brides flowers from Micheals, after drawing on a bit of apricot.  In the center of each, I put an adhesive jewel for some extra blingage.

JCC19 Winner

There was only one entry for my JCC19 this past week.  Rather than , I am choosing to believe that everyone went all week and just couldn't get it done...hehehe.
