SFR46 - All Blinged Out !!

Lindsey texted me the other day, and said " Hey, should we do a BLING challenge ?"

YES PLEASE !!

I cut out my snowflakes (3 all layered together) from cardstock weight vellum and proceeded to place on 37 different rhinestones and pearls !! Then the blue CS underneath had been embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder to add to the sparkle. This card is all about getting noticed from the other side of the room!!

A Little Late And Bit Sketchy !!

Just putting it out there, I don't like my card! What I had in my mind sure did not show up on paper. Hate it when that happens, but at least I stamped ... lol. Lindsey and I went for a sketch this week, and we had 2 choices.

So, I did up another sketch flip and we each chose one to do. I am doing the tall version. You will have to check out Lindsey's work of art to see the wider card.

I used night of navy, brushed silver and white, embossing both the image and the sentiment. I used varying sizes of rhinestones along the flag pendant to draw the eye. I may just have to make another one, so that I am happy with it, ARGH !! Play along if you wish, and upload it with the keyword SFR45 to Splitcoast.

The Beauty Of Vellum - SFR44

The challenge this week was to use vellum on our cards. I absolutely LOVE vellum, but I rarely use it for more than punching out to use as accents. I decided to make a card front with it, and it turned out AMAZING. I just wish it photographed as nicely.

I used soft sky as my base, and then ran the card stock weight vellum though my sizzix in the snowflakes embossing folder. The lighter weight vellum tears easier when you emboss it, so I love the CS weight for this ! I also embossed my sentiment in silver and then added some star dust stickles to the snowflakes raised areas. I then adhered some rhinestones to the center for a bit more bling, perfect for the season.

I then glued the vellum on along the left side, so I added the silver ribbon to hide the glue. That is the one thing about see through vellum that can suck ... LOL. But the beauty outweighs the bad ! Sponge It On

For my card on Tuesday, I sponged on the frame work for the card. Some of you were asking how I did it. It is a simple technique and HERE IS THE TUTORIAL. Trust me, it is fabulously easy, and produces great results. Go ahead, give it a try! Have fun and happy stamping !!

How She Sparkles !

GLITTER !! That is the challenge for this week and both Lindsey and I are sparkly now, I'm sure ... LOL !

I went with the simple look so I could really highlite the tree - WHICH SHINES ! I sponged the square and then after I added the border with my black pen to add to the feel. The tree is covered in stickles, but that wasn't enough for me, so I sprinkled on some dazzling diamonds too ... hehehe

This picture does not do justice to how shimmery this is IRL. And with the clean look, it really amplifies it all. I didn't want to take away from that, but also it still keeps that rustic charm.

It's All In The Fold

Today, the card we are making is the Double Z-Fold Card from the Splitcoast tutorial page. It is a fun way to present a card, and it stands nicely on it's own.

So, here is the front of my card, went with an "ugly sweater" look ... hehehe.

I just love the DSP and while it is old, it is still perfect for this time of year! It is from the Snow Festival pack. I used some dazzling diamonds on some of the patterns and then added the rhinestones in the hearts, as well. The ribbon is wasabi and it is adhered to the card with the red strip double sided tape on the back of the card. You don't want to add the tape to the front, or the folds won't open !

Here is my open card ! The cool thing about this paper pack, is it has squares that are perfect as a image on a card front, or as the interior in this case. Lots of color, and fun for a Christmas card. Now head over to see what Lindsey folded up for you! Brad Man

41 WEEKS IN !! Our challenge today was to use brads, so I cracked open a brand new container. Bought it a LONG time ago and now it was time to get them out.

I also felt like making a guy card out of it. So I scored every inch, on two lines, and then put the mini brads in the center at each intersecting square. The color is basic grey with the black ribbon and and white embossed sentiment. Clean and simple, and great for a masculine card !

A Sketchy Day !

Today, was a long day for me, and for my not-so-little boy. He got the flu through the night, and stayed home from school. Needless to say, no blog post this morning. But he is in bed for the night, and here is my card !!

Lindsey and I are doing another sketch this week. This is a fun one, and when I came up with it, I originally had in mind to have patterened paper on the bottom section of the card. In fact, it took me FOREVAH to get the bottom to look like that just for that reason. LOL

But, while I was making my card, I just couldn't wrap my head around patterned paper, but still needed a pattern on the bottom to be true to the sketch. Well, I DID IT !!

Embossing folders are AWESOME for creating a pattern and no extra layers! I know those snowflakes look indented on the white, but that is actually embossed with silver embossing powder. You also cannot see how absolutely shimmery that ribbon is, perfect for the theme of the card.

A Week Late - OH MY !!!

Lindsey and I took a break last week ( TOTALLY MY FAULT ),but here we are with a color challenge !!

Aren't they lovely ?!? Such rich jeweled toned colors !! Here is my card ...

You're Bordering On The Edge

I am pumped about the challenge this week, as it is super simple, but can look amazing! We tried a Splitcoast tutorial called Bordered Sentiment. It is a great idea for when you need to make a ton of cards quickly, and could easily do this in assembly line style.

So, basically what you do is mask off the area for the sentiment. Stamp whatever you like over it and then remove the mask. The tutorial calls for you to draw a line on the border, but I thought a scored line would add some dimension as well as separate it from the images.

Then for a some more added glam, I put some mini pearls in the center of the little blue flowers. The colors are so cheerful, but the over look is clean and simple. I decided to also add the extra layer on dimensionals to make it stand out more. Hope you like it!!
