Plum Roses

I decided it was time to get back into the stamping mode of things!! Our church had a crafting day, so I pack up a ton of stuff, and went to play. I got 2 projects and 3 cards completed which you will get to see in the next while - WOOHOO!

First up is a card I was playing around with.

I made the rose out of elegant eggplant (center) and perfect plum CS that I ran through the crimper and separated. I just squashed them together and glued to make the rose. I added the leaves and wings from the bird punch and then hand drew the border around, after I stamped on the sentiment. Simple and elegant, hope you enjoy!

Stamping For Mother

Well, this weekend is Mother's Day ! Lindsey and I decided to make mother's day cards for our Stamping Friends Reunion challenge this week, and I went to town.

I got out my punches, Sizzix, pearls and vellum out. I wanted a very beautiful masterpiece that my mom would love. Here's what I came up with ...

And then I go and mess up with the sentiment - ARGH !! You can totally tell that it is crooked, but hopefully she won't mind. Christmas Poinsettia Tole

I am getting into the Christmas mood, music playing constantly, and the tree went up on the weekend. So, it was time to reflect that in my card making. My first Christmas card of the year ...

I used the tutorial HERE to get my artichoke scallop frame for this very vintage chic look.

The base is 5 X 5 and is crumb cake card stock, that was stamped on with En Francious in crumb, but sponged in soft suede. The artichoke layer started out as 4.5 X 4.5, amke sure you DO NOT connect the scallops in the corners if you want the frame look.

The burgundy layer is 3.5 X 3.5 and the crumb cake is 3.25 X 3.25. On the crumb, I stamped the poinsettia and holly boughs in soft suede, masking the poinsettia. I stamped the poinsettia again on crumb and cut it out, layering it with a dimensionals. The images are from Winter Watercolor. The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and I used the burgundy and suede markers to ink it up. The 3/8 taffetta ribbon in espresso was the finishing touch, having the bow come up through the gap in the frame.

Mini Prima-Like Roses Tutorial !!

 

I hope you thoroughly enjoy making these tiny roses. It is surprising how fast and easy they are to put together. The fact that you can make them in any color you want, just seals the deal!

Someone also found me the original video (THANK YOU) , but I wanted to show it with Stampin' Up! only product. Here is where I got the idea from. Have fun and happy punching!!

My Rosy CASE

My sister-in-law and I needed to make cards, and so I went through my blog to find a card for a sort of INSPIRATION CHALLENGE for the both of us. I went back pretty far to find this one HERE, all the way back to June 2007 !!! When you see that card, you will know I went pretty literal with it.

 

The color I used was Rich Razzleberry and the technique for coloring the flower is an old one, I tell you about it HERE. I stamped, embossed and cut out 3 roses. I used the razzleberry DSP and CS, with the white. My greens were certainly celery and always artichoke for the leaves and flourishes. My sentiment comes from the same set as the previous card - Sincere Salutations. For this card, I used pearls along with brads.

 

Here is the reason for cutting out 3 roses, paper tole. Each layer goes smaller to the top, and then I curled and bent up the edges for a more realistic looking flower. I love the way this technique works for this particular flower, PERFECTLY.  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

Anemone Prayers

When I feel  the NEED to craft and stamp, I tend to go a bit more challenging to myself.  I want to see that I have truly accomplished something at the end of it.  This card is no exception to that rule ~ I probably spent 2 hours on it !  Here's why.

This is a 5 X 5 card, and I made those flowers!!  They each measure about 2.5 inches across and while I don't usually toot my own horn ... THEY ARE GORGEOUS !!  They turned out exactly how I had pictured in my mind.  The first one took the longest, and the second one came together a lot faster.  The bonus - EVERYTHING IS STAMPIN' UP! 

The colors I used are wild wasabi, pink pirouette, so saffron and white.  The leaves are textured wasabi, though, which lends to a more realistic feel.  The stamp sets are Belle Toile (#111598) and Thoughts and Prayers (#113252).  The centers of the flower are embellished with the new Basic Pearls (#119247).

Tomorrow, we have an appointment with the C word Clinic here to see what our options are from the medical side of it.  We are also still waiting on the call from a couple of specialists regarding surgery or whether that is even an option.  Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, as they treat his case.  Also for Russ and I, that God will guide us to the right decision.

We are feeling pretty good mentally and spiritually - The peace of God passes all understanding!!  And that comes from being lifted to the throne of grace, for where 2 or 3 are gathered, he is in the midst.  Tootles, have fun and happy stamping!!

 

Another Challenge

Today, I played the color challenge.  Man it feels good to get back to those things!  They used to be my "ME" time in the morning, but when my boys got older, I had less time for that.  Man, I ♥ school ... hehehe.

The color challenge was Bravo Burgundy, Cameo Coral, Very Vanilla and Always Artichoke (optional).

I embossed my flowers on Shimmery CS and then used the Re-Inker Watercolor technique on them.  I waited for them to dry, and then cut them out.

The base is artichoke with some retired CS from last year.  I used the burgundy CS as m base for the flowers, and I cut it with the Top Note die.  THe leaves are the Little Leaves Sizzlet, and then tiny flowers are from the Trio Flower punch.  I colored the centers with the coral marker and then added an adhesive pearl to it.

I left the sentiment off, so I could use it as a quick card for any occasion. Who knew coral and burgundy looked so good together ?  Have fun and happy stamping!!

Cottage Wall Journal

I am in LOVE with the DSP package, Cottage Wall!!  Who knew Orchid Opulence was such a gorgeous color?  In combination with the rich razzleberry and old olive - PERFECTION!  So, I said I would show you what we made for our class last night...

 And who woulda thunk that you could use Extreme Elements for the focal stamping on an elegant centerpiece?  Using the right colors - and pairing it with flowers - can really bring out the beauty in stamps made for the boys ... LOL.  I did also sponged the edges and stamp over it all with the Sanded BG stamp.

The ladies are going to be using this as their technique journals.  When they learn something new in the class, the instructions will go in here and a sample that they will make for future reference.

  Here is what the finished product looked like.  Mine will be sitting in my car, and not in my purse!  I do not want anything to break off.  Hope you have an amazing day, have fun and happy stamping!!

All Is Roses - Another Tutorial !

 

What a beauty, if I do say so myself!!  I made this for my MIL's birthday card. She loves all things floral, and she {hearts} my cards.  I am not bragging, she just tells me this all the time.  So, I try to go out of my way, and take a bit more time, when creating a card for her.

Here is how I did it!!

 

  I stamped the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral 3 times on a sheet of Pink Pirouette.  It doesn't matter how close they are, since you are going to be cutting them out.  I used my pretty in pink marker to color the shadow areas.  You could also stamp them on white and color them.

I then cut them out along different lines, going smaller for each layer.  I attached them together with dimensionals, and added the greenery.  The branch is a Martha Stewart punch and the leaves are from All That Scraps.

The sentiment was stamped on (Sincere Salutations) and then the card base was run through my Big Shot with the Stampin' Up!  Backgrounds Texturz Plates.  The flower was added with more dimensionals, and the pink taffeta ribbon was tied on.  I used a glue dot to attach the half pearl from the Pretties Kit to the center of the knot. 

I don't think my coloring turned out as good as it could have, but it looks very elegant.  I hope she enjoys it, and I hope you guys try making the layered rose.  Have fun and happy stamping!!
