I get asked this question sometimes “What comes in the Stampin’ Up Starter kit?” But the most asked question of all for me is, "How much do I have to sell to stay active?"
(I know quite a few of you are demontrators, and know these answers, so don't be afraid to quit here...LOL)
With Stampin’ Up having their Starter Kits on sale 15% off starting Feb 1st AND an additional stamp set free ($56.95 value!), now is a good time to answer those questions for anyone who is wondering if this would be a FUN step for them to take. All prices in here are Canadian, and I cannot sign up people in any other country. Vice Versa, Americans can not sign up Canadian, or internationals, either.
What comes in the Kit? The Starter kit contains more than $410 worth of products for $249 - and now you can take 15% off to make it $209. Besides that, it ships to you FOR FREE!!
- You choose 5 stamp sets, this price or lower: 25.95, 33.95, 38.95, 44.95, and a bonus 56.95 (until March 31).
- One regular wheel $7.75
- A handle for your wheel
- Choose your ink cartridge color for wheel
- Full box of pastels (49 colors)
- 2 packs of assorted cardstock (choose your color group) 72 sheets total
- Pack of white or vanilla cardstock - 40 sheets
- Snail adhesive (refillable)
- Choose a 20.95 Décor Element (vinyl)
- Stampin’ Scrub and mist cleaner (a must for any stamper!)
- Versamark pad (clear ink used for watermarks or embossing)
- 3 Blender Pens
- 5 classic ink pads, your choice of color
- Tons of business supplies like a box of 8 catalogs, mini catalogs, our Demonstrator magazine and order forms.
What is the catch?Other than the fact that it will become addicting...LOL, it’s pretty easy. I’ve had more trouble trying to order workout videos online. It booted me out 4 times!!. Signing up to be a demonstrator? 20 minutes. Online. And you get your password to go onto the Demonstrator Only Website right away while you wait for your kit to arrive in a week to 10 days.
What if I decide to not place any orders and just enjoy my kit?Stampin ‘Up will just drop you after your quarter is up. Nothing to do, no forms to fill out, nothing. You will never be penalized for not putting in the minimums.
How much do I have to order to stay active? $400 retail. IN 3 MONTHS! But with new sign ups, you get 6 months to sell that amount. This Stampin’ Up quarter runs Jan, Feb, March. So if you sign up Feb 1st, you would get your first quarter free of minimums. Apr-may-June is the next quarter so you would have to your $400 in orders by the end of June. And you don't have to place that order all in one shot, you can place smaller orders till it adds up. You can be your own hostess, so with your 20% off as a demonstrator, the $400 goes down to $320.00 but then add back in 10% shipping and then tax. If you are 10% tax like me, then it comes out to around $387.20. BUT as your own hostess, you can get a free hostess set and 25.00 free merchandise. So it pays off if you are looking for a discount and you are going to spending that much on stamp stuff anyway.
Bonus: This is why some people sign up if they have a huge wish list or want something big like the BIG SHOTor the markers : You get 30% (instead of 20%) off your first order over $200.00 if you place it within 60 days of signing up. Be your own hostess + get a big discount = how can I not?
What kind of incentives can I earn as a Stampin' Up! Demontrator? Here are just a few of the many benefits :
1. In your first 3-4 months you have the opportunity to earn FREE stamp sets from the current catalog through a program called Stampin’ Start.
2. 30% off on your first order if you place it within 45 days after signing up.
3. You can earn up to 40% commission on personal purchases & customer sales.
4. Every year you are eligible to earn a FREE Stampin' Up! Cruise.
5. Great Rewards - You get to pick FREE items (Logo & product) each quarter depending on your sales. The first prize level only requires $1,000 in sales per quarter, and you’ve earned a very nice prize!
6. Free catalogs throughout the year.
7. Receive the Stampin’ Success monthly magazine – includes great tips & techniques!
8. Pre-order new sets before they’re available
How much help can I expect from my Upline? You can expect to receive full training from me. Including business tips, ideas, stamping techniques, and ongoing support through our Group website & email! I will be your biggest cheerleader for whatever goals you want to achieve with Stampin' Up!
I already hold classes in my home once a month, and this will continue with my downline. We would meet to discuss, express concerns and stamp in the company of others that love it as much as we do!!
If you are already a seasoned stamper who doesn’t necessarily need one-on-one training, decent on the computer and is happy to do your own thing, then it isn’t as important to sign up with someone locally. Personally I would sign up with someone who has been doing it for more than a few years, is established and offers some long distance support. You have the obvious resource of my blog, plus a password protected site for you to ask questions, and get hints from me that are not posted on my blog. I am also a phone call away, and available anytime, even on my cruise in March...hehehe!
Do I have to have classes or workshops? Some demonstrators do it as a career and support themselves full time with it. It’s a lot of work but it can be done. A lot do it just for the discount for themselves, friends and family. There is no requirement to host or teach any classes. Now if you want help with putting in the orders, start a class to teach techniques or projects. Have a few friends or family that you can stamp with each or every other month, so they can order a few things from you. Every little bit helps! And if you are like me, you might really enjoy it and start doing it once a week. When times get tough, sell stamps!
If I do decide to do this, where will I get my ideas for my workshops?
Stampin' Up! has many resources for demonstrators. The Catalog, the SU! website, the monthly Stampin' Success magazine, training videos & Stampin' Discuss. It is OKAY to copy your projects from these sources and use them at your workshops. You do not have to do everything by yourself, and I am available for this, as well.
If I need to, can I really make money at this? YES!! There are demonstrators out there that make upwards of $5,000 to $15,000 a month, or even more. This also requires a lot more work, but if you want to do it, you can. Also, every year there are cash awards given at convention for group and individual accomplishments. One is for Rising Stars…ONLY brand new demonstrators qualify!
What is in the Demonstrator Only Website? All the help you could ever want!! There are 5 years of back issues of the Demonstrator only magazine called Stampin' Success, and this monthly publication also gets mailed to you. There is a Workshop Wizard to help you plan workshops. All forms are there, so you can print them off at the touch of a button. There is also a forum where you can ask Stampin' Up! questions at anytime. I don't want to forget to mention that Stampin' Up! is also a phone call away.
Some people sign up just for the preorders. Maybe this has happened to you: You are on a website and see this awesomely cute card and say “I want that set!” but it’s not available for another month and then you get mad because the demonstrators already have it and are using it? Then you should be a demonstrator and get the upcoming mini catalogs or promotional stuff before anyone else!
Do you LOVE what you do? I'm not sure that this site is any indication, but I LOVE what I do!! I have made so many friends since I signed up to be a demo, and it was honestly one of the best decisions of my life.
Final Question ~ How do I sign up?
Go to www.juliebuhler.stampinup.net and click on Join Now. You’ll need my password & that is paperpleasing (all lowercase letters, no spaces). Then you’ll make your selections to customize your kit and within minutes your demo ID number will be emailed to you. (Don’t forget, you’re not a demonstrator until you pay, so, you can go take a look and come back later). Click Hereif you'd like to head over there now. I would recommend waiting till February 1st (TODAY), to take advantage of the sale, and incentives of Sale-A-Bration!
I hope that some of your questions were answered, and I would love to share this awesome opportunity with you. Please, feel free to contact me!!
