One Year Celebration with a Giveaway !!

Well, Lindsey and I have been going at it for a year (well just over, we missed a few). So for our Stamping Friends Reunion 52 challenge, we decided to do a challenge gift! I tried using different textures and papers with the color to create more visual dimension. Kind of makes it a fuller card, with only one color palette. Now for the play along prize !!

Just For You, Valentine !

This week, our only challenge was Clean and Simple (CAS card). I decided to re-use the last sketch we did, since it totally fit the criteria. I did want to put a spin on it, though, and came up with a window card !!

Most of my {heart} confetti got covered up in the silver glitter, but I still love it. I tried also to make it look quilted, but not sure if I succeeded, LOL. Lots of empty space with the center taking up all the attention.

A Christmas Rose

So Lindsey and I decided to do a color challenge, and then we took it a step further ...

We also both decided to incorporate the rose into our design!!

Love how the blues are there with the POP of the red, so striking! I really like the layout, as well. The panels set everything off, since it has the grey and white. I am so excited for Christmas this year, and I am trying to get all my cards done for family and friends quickly. How about you, looking forward to the holiday ?? SFR46 - All Blinged Out !!

Lindsey texted me the other day, and said " Hey, should we do a BLING challenge ?"

YES PLEASE !!

I cut out my snowflakes (3 all layered together) from cardstock weight vellum and proceeded to place on 37 different rhinestones and pearls !! Then the blue CS underneath had been embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder to add to the sparkle. This card is all about getting noticed from the other side of the room!!

The Beauty Of Vellum - SFR44

The challenge this week was to use vellum on our cards. I absolutely LOVE vellum, but I rarely use it for more than punching out to use as accents. I decided to make a card front with it, and it turned out AMAZING. I just wish it photographed as nicely.

I used soft sky as my base, and then ran the card stock weight vellum though my sizzix in the snowflakes embossing folder. The lighter weight vellum tears easier when you emboss it, so I love the CS weight for this ! I also embossed my sentiment in silver and then added some star dust stickles to the snowflakes raised areas. I then adhered some rhinestones to the center for a bit more bling, perfect for the season.

I then glued the vellum on along the left side, so I added the silver ribbon to hide the glue. That is the one thing about see through vellum that can suck ... LOL. But the beauty outweighs the bad ! A Sketchy Day !

Today, was a long day for me, and for my not-so-little boy. He got the flu through the night, and stayed home from school. Needless to say, no blog post this morning. But he is in bed for the night, and here is my card !!

Lindsey and I are doing another sketch this week. This is a fun one, and when I came up with it, I originally had in mind to have patterened paper on the bottom section of the card. In fact, it took me FOREVAH to get the bottom to look like that just for that reason. LOL

But, while I was making my card, I just couldn't wrap my head around patterned paper, but still needed a pattern on the bottom to be true to the sketch. Well, I DID IT !!

Embossing folders are AWESOME for creating a pattern and no extra layers! I know those snowflakes look indented on the white, but that is actually embossed with silver embossing powder. You also cannot see how absolutely shimmery that ribbon is, perfect for the theme of the card.

It's so Bendi !

I found this tutorial on Splitcoast called a "Bendi card". I thought it looked so cool, and asked Lindsey if she would be willing to play along with me ... She said "yes", she's AWESOME like that !!

Here is how my card ended up

I don't have much for dies to make it full 3D look, but I did what I could.

The front frame on the card, bends outward to give it the dimensional feel. I glued the glass on to the frame, as well as the leaves, to add to the effect. Cantaloupe In Color

This is the photo that Lindsey and I decided to draw our colors from for this weeks card. I love the neutral tones, but the pop of the pinkish hue had me immediately. I knew that was going to be the accent on my card. It has a monotone feel but yet, it is warm and inviting.

The colors I chose, taken from above were chocolate chip, very vanilla, crumb cake, and crisp cantaloupe. I really like the elegance this card has, the background being done with the crumb cake ink pad before I embossed the vanilla CS. I know I have a lot of design elements on here, but yet it doesn't seem too busy, with the open space on the left. Quite liking this one !!

Flippin' Sketchy

Well, we decided to do another sketch flip this week. One of my favorite things to do, to make a few cards at once, that end up different ... even when you cut everything the same !!

Lindsey has the flipped version - CHECK IT OUT !! Now here is my take on the sketch (almost) as is.

I am in LOVE with how it turned out. I put the flower on the other side, because I didn't like the leaves going over the ripped corner piece so much. The flower looks like suede and having the corduroy button in the middle adds the perfect touch. I used textured baja breeze CS along with the white and crumb cake. I added a few pearls in the free space, as well as by the sentiment. Such a pretty card, IMO ... lol.
